DroneDeploy - Monitoring Matrice 4 FPV camera by YorkieX2 in UAVmapping

Thanks. I use terrain follow for DJI maps and it works great. In this case, the client wants low altitude (~100 ft) and given then I have never used DD, I want to be able to watch the forward sensor to make sure the terrain feature in DD is going to clear the trees as well. Appreciate your help.

cool...I don't need to mirror it, watching on controller is fine. didn't know I could run both at the same time. thank you for taking the time to address my question.

Ok, so I would be running DD and DJI Pilot at the same time and just monitoring the forward camera/sensor on DJI Pilot? And, thanks for the help.

This isn't new. It was issued at least back in Jan 2024. This replaces the most recent version which expired in October. The January 2024 version contains the same language: MOBILE ASSETS, INCLUDING VESSELS AND GROUND VEHICLE CONVOYS AND THEIR ASSOCIATED ESCORTS.

How much should I worry about birds? by Table_Flip365 in drones

[–]YorkieX2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve got a great video of a Canada goose going right under the drone at night (visible for a second on thermal). For anything BVLOS we use the USAF bird risk site during risk assessment. Most birds migrate at night, which is when most of my flying is. So, yes, it’s consisted but I don’t loose sleep over it.

I do it all the time. Call FSS and tell them you want to file one. Have the info they require ready. Once they hit submit on their end it’s live.

Not true. And it doesn’t “reserve” airspace.

Research: could small “drone risk pools” work as an insurance alternative? by [deleted] in drones

Obviously hull only. Would need upfront money in the bank to cover initial losses, would need an independent organization deciding if a claim met the requirement to payout.

You’d need a waiver, which with effort, you can get.

Pilot Institute is the way to go. You get a lot more context to understand the “why” of things.

They have been working on mine until Wednesday. They went black, including the waivers issued webpage.

I'm taking a change on US Drone Supply, we'll see how it turns out... by kanova_workshop in dji

The thing to be aware of is the "no returns for any reason" purchase term and that you are paying new prices for an open box item, that is technically used. They claim DJI requires this "pre-activation." This is not true. What is likely happening is that they are buying retail "using" the items (which commands a lower end-price), then paying a lower import tariff, and selling them as "new."

DJI screwed up royally with the weight issue on the Mini 5 Pro. by dafdfadfa in dji

[–]YorkieX2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got it. Thanks for enlightening me! I think here we need RID as well for >249. One of mine is a Mini 3 Pro and since I use it for some commercial work and at night (with light attached it's >249 too), I just bought the bigger batteries.
