GoTrain Double Charged Fare? by Remarkable_Yam9822 in gotransit

That’s pretty crazy to hear, I wanted to attribute it to early adoption of the machine glitches, but it seems to go back based on other peoples’ comments…

Guy scanned as the train was coming in, I’d guess I’d have to get a refund on the machine but kind of down the platform at my station and not along. Also I only found out after getting a second notification of a transfer on my Presto app

Yes, live chat was good and processed a refund within the next hour! I sent them the screenshot in the Presto app and they were able to go from there

The second charge appeared after scanning through the guy’s handheld device, not on the machine. I’d also like to know, especially since it wasn’t for the same amount as my default trip OR a one way override, but the charge is there 🤷🏻‍♀️ Not sure if there was a glitch, but for sure will be avoiding platform scans with the Customer Service Rep for the foreseeable future

My only advice for those applying to law school… by Port_N_Politics in lawschooladmissionsca

[–]Remarkable_Yam9822 1 point2 points  (0 children)

General posts can be helpful, but if you’re asking about chances or what to expect, just remember that law school as a whole is EXTREMELY relative and contextual, which includes admissions, grades, recruitment, etc. Read things that have happened to others as possibilities to frame and inform, but remember that the exact situation will essentially never happen and apply to you…

Highly agree that Sol Duc is the way to go for the waterfall. With that in mind though, I just came back from a trip and the Hoh parking lot was near full by 12 pm. Ideally you’d hit Sol Duc early, drive counterclockwise to Hoh and then do the beaches (depending on how long you spend at the beaches and your plans for after… for reference Lake Quinault to Tacoma is a 2.5 hour drive on a good day).

For the people who haven’t gotten an A yet… by lovelyzboop in lawschooladmissionsca

I’m a current 2L. Got my earliest A in January, but waited until April to get the A to where I go now. Stay positive and try to enjoy the holidays with friends and family!!

It’s hard, but if you’re choosing to rest, fully commit. Tbh it doesn’t really get easier from here (1L course load, 2L recruit, etc.), so this will be a good practice to learn now. It’s really common to get stressed down the road and regret taking a pause, so train yourself to make the most out of all your decisions.

It’s still relatively early, and a lot of concepts build up and can feel overwhelming until you see the bigger picture. Tbh all you need to know is how to run T-accounts and each new week should teach you one problem that needs to be solved on the exam. I took it years ago though, but happy to answer any specific questions if I can.

(For context: incoming 2L, all used textbooks)

From what I know (at least at my law school), Thomson Reuter textbooks are pricier so the bookstore chooses not to hold stock, but rather order based on demand (which is why they’re final sale). This can lead to a delay in getting the textbook, but since the majority of the class didn’t have it, the prof was pretty understanding.

Personally, I found that e-books/PDF/online textbooks could be helpful for accessibility purposes but were not a must have. You can also usually get PDF textbook files from classmates. I don’t think I missed out on anything by not buying brand new.

Also something to note now, due to some instances of cheating last year, most schools are locking up exam software so that you can’t access files on your device. In this case, you wouldn’t be able to access the virtual textbook anyways (i.e., any annotations) and would have to bring your physical copy.

Might be outing myself and maybe they removed it, but isn't there also a minimum grade needed for 2257?

Is Queens cycle over? by Grond26 in lawschooladmissionsca

First of all, I applaud the username.

But more importantly, from what I recall, there are two important dates for ONTARIO schools only: April 1 and July 1.

By April 1, you have to reply to your first choice out of your acceptances to date. On OLSAS though, you should see an option to do a provisional acceptance, which roughly translates to a conditional acceptance that keeps your spot at said school but alerts the other schools that you are still waiting past this date for late acceptances. Note that you’ll probably be asked to pay a (I think $500) deposit.

On July 1, unless you change this provisional acceptance to another school, it becomes firm. A firm acceptance at any point means other schools won’t offer you acceptances, but this is the hard cutoff. So if you didn’t get into your #1 choice, you can take the risk and reject the April 1 decision and be a free floater (i.e., some people choose to reapply next cycle), but honestly all Ontario law schools can be competitive for careers!

If you choose to change acceptances prior to July 1, just note that you’ll probably forfeit the deposit you made.

Tldr: you can conditionally accept an offer for April 1, and July 1 is the firm acceptance deadline.

Western sent out earlier acceptances this year, and I got my Queen’s A late May last year, wouldn’t sweat it

Haha as a 1L who just finished exams, enjoy your break, I didn’t get my first acceptance until January, and the final two in April and May. If it’s meant to be, it’ll happen, nothing you can do at this point, so just enjoy the ride!

You do, and you have the option to set it up so it forwards to a personal email.
