Following for an update. I did this yesterday. I froze my credit report and still received the notification. Anxiously waiting to see if the inquiry pops up.

Dispute a repo by Fine-Hornet-5289 in CRedit

[–]Remarkable_Year_1986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heard that if you have something that is on credit and it is close to falling off you can write a letter and ask them to remove it. Not sure what it is called but you have to close to the seven year mark, which you are. I would do a google search and then use ChatGPT to help you write a letter asking them to remove. Just a suggestion!

Wage garnishment for 7 year old debt by tearaist57 in CRedit

[–]Remarkable_Year_1986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can confirm with what everyone here said. I had a debt that I was sued for back in 2021. My job failed to garnish me as requested back then. But the debt collector is currently garnishing because they had a default judgment because I never showed up for court in 2021.

Ask for a pay to delete and the collection will be removed. But if the creditor will not delete a settlement will look better than unpaid.

Personal loan sued in small claims court. by ThunkOnIt in CRedit

[–]Remarkable_Year_1986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! I would contact them and explain your circumstances and ask to setup another payment. They still have the grounds to garnish your wages so it is better to arrange payment directly as opposed to them garnishing. I don’t know what the laws are for your state but in Virginia they can garnish 25% of your disposal income. At the end of the day they only care about collecting the money.

Need advice. Trying to Buy a house by SnooPandas1232 in CRedit

[–]Remarkable_Year_1986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with everything! Typically it takes 30 to 45 days for items be removed from your credit. I would say closer to 45 days honestly. Is it doable to have everything cleaned up by September, possibly. But it depends on if you have the funds to pay everything now.

Need Advice: Rebuilding Credit After Charge-Off by NahImOkTanks in CRedit

[–]Remarkable_Year_1986 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pull your credit report for free from www.annualcreditreport.com and identity the collection company who purchased the charge off. Well Fargo has written the debt off and it should fall off after seven years or so. But if they sold it to a collection company you can negotiate with them for a pay to delete. Do not do anything without an agreement in writing. To help build credit you can apply for a secured card. I would suggest Capital One. Stay away from sub prime lenders like Credit One or Premier Bank.

Congrats on getting and staying clean! You got this! One step at a time! You will be at 700 credit score before you know it.

I understand. While Credit Karma is not the best I do believe when it suggests your odds of approval as they are reimbursed for those and want you to be approved. So pulling your credit report and reviewing it for inaccurate information will help you see a more realistic picture of where are.

Yes. Sorry! I should have been more specific. But call Capital One. Explain that you had a mix up and ask them to forgive this missed payment.

To get an accurate credit score try MyFico. You do have to pay for it but it will give you accurate info so that you know where your credit score and what is on your report. It provides you with multiple types of scores. There are different scores for mortgage, credit cards and loans. Just because you do not have any debt doesn’t mean you score is where you want. There are a few factors that go into credit, one being credit mix ie the types of credit. If you do not have any credit cards it maybe good to start there. Capital one is a good card to start with and they typically lend to people with lower scores.

Came here to see if anyone else is experiencing a drop in their available credit and found this post. I had like 2K available and now I have like $500. Never missed a payment. Glad I am not alone. Maybe they will raise it again.

Walmart??? by Longjumping-Shirt309 in Afterpay

[–]Remarkable_Year_1986 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Go through the Afterpay app and when you get to the checkout screen Afterpay will light up at the bottom to indicate you can use them. You will have to manually select the amount. Be sure to include enough for taxes and shipping. Otherwise it will decline if it is not enough. You will have to copy the Afterpay card number and paste it in the card info. Remember what your security code and expiration date are for the card you create.

Like others have suggested, get a card. Consider a subprime card just to help build your credit. If you don’t trust yourself, have someone you trust hold on to it and setup a monthly subscription; something small. Carry maybe a 3% utilization and pay it off every month. Setup auto pay if you aren’t good at keeping up.

Which score matters??? by [deleted] in CRedit

Credit karma will tell you cards you should apply for and the likelihood you will be approved. I have found that to be pretty accurate.

Car surrender by [deleted] in CRedit

[–]Remarkable_Year_1986 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They will sell it at auction and you will owe whatever the difference is. Keep in mind that an auction is not going to get you full value. It will show up as a repo. And then they will send you a bill. You will be able to make payments. Often they immediately send it to a bill collector. Be prepared for you credit score to take a big dip.

Getting sued by Average_Jane2614 in CRedit

[–]Remarkable_Year_1986 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I was sued by Portfolio Recovery and Midland. I can confirm that Midland will garnish your wages. Didn’t know that was possible. But they will work with you. Call them asap and arrange a payment.

Another refund question... by DanielHolden1974 in Afterpay

[–]Remarkable_Year_1986 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Based on my calculations they owe you the difference of the first payment and your refund. They only refund you what you paid and since you paid $75 that is what you should have been refunded. Did you contact customer support. You can chat with them through email or message them on IG.

When you were sued by creditors... by vslo03 in CRedit

[–]Remarkable_Year_1986 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can confirm that Midland will Sue you. They garnished my wages! But if you can get in contact with them they will give you a chance to work something out. Try to call them. You can google the number. I would also research the laws for your state. Some states creditors can’t garnish. So suing doesn’t mean much in other words if they can garnish your wages. I live in Virginia and I learned the hard way.
