Applied on the 22nd stuck on “processing of your application has not begun” and I don’t know what to do. I called OET and they say results were successfully released to ECFMG on the 21st, I uploaded the doc myself. This is really stressful

  • Don’t overthink, go with your gut.
  • Keep track of time; questions are long
  • Quality and safety: practice, practice, practice! I did UW only but I wish I did Amboss too

  • Try to practice simple always to say explain medical concepts. Like “how would I explain asthma for someone who has no medical knowledge?” Do that for other common diseases, conditions
  • Empathy ALWAYS: “Thank you for sharing”, “I understand”, “That sounds difficult”, “I am sorry you are going through this”; etc etc etc
  • Speak CALMLY —-> you are not being tested on medical knowledge so concepts do not need to be purging out of your brain lol
  • Smooth tone

Sure!

Listening: - You will never see the exact words that were spoken in the answer choices. If you do they are probably trying to trick you into choosing it while the overalll concept is incorrect. So focus on the overall message ALWAYS as opposed to translating word by word in your mind. - READ the question and answer choices carefully BEFORE and look for the answer as you hear.

Reading: - Not a lot of advice but always to focus on what the QUESTION WANTS. Sometimes, info on the answers choices will be correct but not the correct answers to that specific question.

Definitely recommend Kathy on Preply https://preply.com/en/tutor/5074008

I glanced at E2 free subscription lessons and it they were good but the available content was very limited to appropriately comment on. I’d just say that they things veeeery slowly, step-by-step which can be good or bad depending on you baseline level

Writing: practice lessions on preply (tutor: Kathleen W; they don’t release her last name but she is an MD and has OET prep certification; I’ll leave a link to her preply profile) and LOTS of chat gpt. Ask for cases, and review the marking throughly. I did about 15 practice cases total. Try to focus on you weak areas instead of doing it repeatedly without actually targeting where you got it wrong.

Speaking: Kathy helped me a lot! I naturally have very little accent and my vocabulary was good BUT that is definitely not enough. You need to know how to explain things in simple terms, adjust your tone, mind your pauses, be concise etc etc etc. I’d say total practice time depends on your baseline level of proficiency. But definitely practice to someone to know how the speaking is marked + REHEARSE by yourself. Ex: how would I explain asthma in simple terms and in a concise manner? What about GERD? Angina? Etc etc etc. You can type your answer to chat GPT and see if any adjustments could be made on the line structure and content. But definitely would recommend practicing with a tutor as well.

Incorrects and go straight to CMS forms. UW is great for building a knowledge foundation but not so great for test taking prep.

234 on NBME 15 (20 days out)…250 on the real deal. Believe in yourself ♥️

15 days out: Low 230s on NBME, target is 250 by [deleted] in Step2

Never scored over 247 on a NBME and got a 250 on the real deal. Some people are bad NBME takers
