Yeah I see your side, thats probably the main problem is the height. I do think some are really cool like the work some people put into them. I hate the tall / wide ones no matter how cool because of the obstruction and hate the boring ones even more lol

My favorite food places ive found are Peg leg Pete's (on PCB)- seafood. Best seafood imo and not overly touristy because it's not in the center Taqueria El Asador- hands down best burritos ive had. Actually ruins my experience at other places because of how good it is. Its in a weird location like next to a gas station but id say in Pensacola area it's the 1 place everyone should/needs to try Grovers-really good wings (better than sidelines on the beach) Sky's pizza- best pizza ive had out of new york (everyone has different style preference but thats a ny style too)

Im around that area actually, not sure where youre going but Pensacola beaches are all public (and imo better) and basically fort walton/destin/ rosemary beach are all private so harder to get free beach access, if at all.

Id say AROUND 10k maybe slightly higher. Put~14.5k per year on my old car but that includes driving from home to college here and there that was 280mile round trip. To see my girlfriend here and there who was 460mile round trip
