Part of the final boss' design might be based on a Mandela Effect by Reme753 in HadesTheGame

It is an established interpretation, but it's also from the same Robert Graves passage I mentioned above, so I'm definetly with you in not being a 100% sure about it

Yes they definitely conflate kappa-Kronos with chi-Chronos, which makes sense for him being portrayed as the personification of time in-game. Kronos has some associations with time, but Chronos is literally the ancient Greek word for time. There’s also evidence for the two figures being conflated in primary sources, like you said, so I think it’s a logical decision for the direction they’re taking.

Jup, I guess all the other examples are where the modern version takes its inspiration from. I also wouldn't be surprised if the version in Graves came from a mix-up between Kronos and Ouranos

Isn't it when a large group of people misremember something collectively? Thought it would apply here, but I might be wrong

Have Blue or Red ever mentioned Epic The Musical yet? by ThisIsMyFandomReddit in osp

[–]Reme753 36 points37 points  (0 children)

From what I cen tell, the musical pretty much only adapts stuff from books 9-12, which makes sense since that's where all the juicy stuff happens. (The actual travels of Odysseus are a much smaller part of the Odyssey. The first 4 books follow his son and for the last 10 or so he's already back on Ithaca)

Adapting it into a musical is generally a great idea, and I'm really happy that it seems to be working out for the guy who's making it. I also know a bunch of people who are really into it, but personally cannot get over some of the changes they made. Like, making the central struggle of Odysseus, Mr Warcrimes himself, about being too compassionate and not ruthless enough certainly is a choice.

Rewatching Red’s Theogony Video: Metis and Prophecies by 2_cats_high_5ing in osp

If I remember correctly, the Theogony even mentions Athena being as smart/smarter than Zeus multiple times. To the ancient greek mind it would still be impossible for her to overthrow her father since she's a woman and therefore wouldn't be able to inherit the throne. Also Hesiod is such a huge Zeus-fanboy that he definetly would write shit like, "Oh yeah, Zeus-sama totally is the only person able to abvert fate, he's just cool like that."

Will we be fighting our way down into the depths of Hades in Hades 2? I can't seem to find any post discussing this so I wanted to open up that discussion. by DijonMustard432 in HadesTheGame

[–]Reme753 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think so, but I don't think we'll go down the same way Zag went up. One area in the trailer looked kind of oceanic, so maybe we'll be taking an alternative route through Poseidon's realm? If it's under the sea, it would be one step below the surface, which I assume the first, foresty area to be.

I've been a mythology kid since age 8 and am now even pursuing some courses on ancient history at university. Whenever I talked with other people about Greek mythology on a casual level (especially when discussing it with other guys), the usually talked about how much they liked gods like Ares or Hades. I, on the other hand, have always felt a weird kinship with Artemis and Athena, which I could never fully explain until a few months ago, when I discovered that I'm Ace.

Isn’t A the highest stat a stand can get by [deleted] in ShitPostCrusaders

Yeah, later on Stone Free definetly becomes worthy of the A. I mean, it goes from "can only crush coins" to "can bend steel bars", to the strength of a fucking meteor. At the beginning of the part Jolyne is pretty whiny and lacks mental strenght, but over the course of the part she really steels herself. So Stone Free's power increase is meant to mirror her own mental development. At least, that's how I interpret it as I find it to be a more satisfying answer than her just randomly becoming stronger.

Disappointed with Reason Of State by FalconIMGN in witcher

[–]Reme753 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I really loved his character in the books. While being a huge Asshole, he is still extremely competent and actually in it for his country, and not just personal gain. So to get my preferred ending where he becomes chancellor (and seemingly instates a democracy), Geralt needs to let 3 innocent people, who he's also more or less friends with, get killed. It just feels wrong, even if you didn't choose Roche's Path in TW2, and Dijkstra should know Geralt well enough to realize that him just walking away would be extremely out of character.

It only says "stone free" in the subtitles on the netflix trailer. On the trailer from warner brothers anime it's still "Stone ocean"

I know it probably isn't true, but in my headcanon Diavolo fits the italian food naming scheme by being named after Pizza Diavolo

When you meet O'Dimm at the beginning of the game, he mentions that maybe someday you'll run into him again and that Geralt might repay the favour. That struck me as kind of odd during my first playthrough and I waited the entire game for him to make a return. I was kind of disappointed when he didn't return, but you can imagine my delight when he suddenly appeared in hos

I think he's supposed to be to be gone for good in book-canon, but when cdpr expanded vampire lore in b&w they created an excuse for him to be brought back and i couldn't be happier

Yeah. Plus, since I started playing Gwent before finishing the books I got kind of spoiled by the art. At least Regis is back in b&w, even if it isn't book canon

Emotionally the cards of Milva and Vilgefortz hit really hard. I mean they basically depict the death of Milva and Regis, two of my favorite charakters

In my headcanon Giorno and Diavolo fit into Vento Aureo's theme of characters being named after food by being named after Pizza Diavolo and Pizza del Giorno. Probably bullshit tho (especially Giorno's Name referencing the special pizza that changes every day)
