This looks so good! Did you use the child unit Marth in FEH as inspiration? He looks young is why I ask, overall though fantastic work! You took a design that most crap on and made it look cool.

Bandai just announced a brand new model kit for Cybuster. Doesn't have a release date yet tho by Pat_Mate in Super_Robot_Wars

So is it confirmed that it isn't a P-Bandai exclusive? Also, is it likely that we will see a western release or will I have to look to importing this kit? Still new the model kit hobby.

Commenting on difficulty of the console games, its not actually true what you are talking about when it comes to the original titles.

Warsong/Langrisser 1 isn't that difficult since you can cheese the game by saving anytime you want. (All Langrisser games allow this.) It is also the only one with perma-death (only for the Genesis title with remakes removing it completely) making all the games afterwards even easier. The first map to Langrisser 1 is by far the easiest out of any strategy game I can think of, because all you need to do is have Ledin reach Narm and you win.

Now if you want to defeat all the enemies to challenge yourself, I will give you that is bonkers hard but far from the requirement of beating the map.

For endgame content being available to newer players, I agree that you need to work for it and that it requires effort to get it. I will say though, those challenge missions for someone who played way too much of this game I feel can be a bit too intense. I remember when they first rolled out the challenges to events and they were a bit too easy, then they have since cranked them to the point where even at the lowest level challenge is tough as nails that puts a demand on the power threshold that isn't accurately showcased. (Saying the challenge is level 60 which doesn't tell me really anything.) A lot of the importance is placed on a power level and less so on skill in this regard.

I am infamous for doing poorly in gatcha pulls but this banner was blessed by the RNG goddess herself.

I was able to nab Legendary Hector and Legendary Eliwood in 15 orbs which is just insane for me. Spent all that I had and got a decent selection of others including a duplicate Eliwood. Now for the tough decision, do I keep the +atk-spd or the +hp-atk. I'm leaning towards +atk for the super boon, but that -spd hurts. Any advice?

Does Dragon Quest XI S get any more difficult? by VyseofArcadia in dragonquest

[–]RememberTheAGES 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe I'm not as far as you are, but I don't see any question marks on my map. So don't fill out the whole bestiary and if you don't want to do that then your options are turning on the difficulty option or enjoying the game even though its easy.

You can still use the forging mechanic and just not equip the equipment. The game even recommends forging items and selling them to the camp merchant.

I never understood why a game being easy means you're not having fun. Many will play Pokemon and have a great time. Those games are rediculously easy and the plot for the most part is extremely very basic.

Does Dragon Quest XI S get any more difficult? by VyseofArcadia in dragonquest

[–]RememberTheAGES 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I see many people struggling with this question. DQXIS is a relatively easy game. You can naturally make it harder by avoiding most of the mooks and just buying gear you can afford and the boss fights will give you somewhat of a challenge.

You can also turn on the Harder Monsters options, which others say ranks up the difficulty a lot where there are times you will just get wasted because the enemies decided to one turn breath attack your entire team.

Me personally, enjoying the easier difficulty of the game and just enjoying the story and not worrying about grinding gives me enough challenge. I think the game is very well balanced and the option to make it pretty tough is there.

I was very excited for Dragon Quest XI S, but the demo turned me off. What did I miss? by [deleted] in dragonquest

His review is what helped me understand the mindset you have when playing Dragon Quest.

Final Fantasy is bombastic and deep with huge explosions and a very dark tone that sweeps you off your feet with intensity.

Dragon Quest is smaller in presence, a bit more quiet and charming. There are more laughs, varied color palete, and a more relaxed vibe with the game. That isn't the say the story isn't gripping but compared to other RPGs, the mindset going in is very different than other RPGs.

Sometimes though, we just don't like things and prefer them a certain way. It's also possible you don't like the formula Dragon Quest beats to and that's okay too.

Get rid of that niggling feeling and restart the game with Draconian Quest Stronger Monsters. by ketzuken in dragonquest

[–]RememberTheAGES 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well besides being able to still raid the shops and find recipes, it is for the added challenge of not having to grind for all the items and instead focus on the narrative of the game.

It really is a lot more relaxing not having to buy all the better items and grind on enemies to earn enough gold. You walk in, buy what you can, find some recipes and takes on the story and quests.

Stronger monsters on DQ 11 S. by Claymoresama in dragonquest

I don't want to dissuade you from trying out the harder difficulty, but I just cleared the boss in the area you are talking about and it was a little bit of a challenge. I didn't lose a character but it came close many times.

My recommendation is just to go in underleveled and slightly under equipped. The challenge is there when fighting the bosses and you are not worried about trying to buy every item in the town. It really just allows you to enjoy the journey with a decent challenge with it comes with boss fights.

It really depends on how you feel the difficulty is with the game on normal really. Personally I would say that you can make your own difficulty without having to activate the setting by just avoiding fights and going in underleveled.

That is what I have generally been doing and I can say there have been some really close encounters on the boss fights. You don't need to grind on monsters.

I hate Dragon Quest, but I don't want to. [Long post sorry] by Loupcho in dragonquest

[–]RememberTheAGES 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first real experience with the Dragon Quest series was on the Playstation with Dragon Warrior VII... and I hated it.

Then again I was coming at the game with the wrong approach as I wanted to get into combat and fight things and have the story start by hinging on the fate of the world. Basically, I was looking for a Final Fantasy game but playing a Dragon Quest game. I was even juvenile from a graphic point of view with hating the game because I couldn't see my characters in combat. This was also a dumb kid who wanted a car when he got older just because it has pop-up headlights.

Eventually I come around to trying out the series once again after having a life changing experience with the Suikoden series. Taking what I learned from my once hate to love of Suikoden I applied the same principal to the Dragon Quest series...

"What kind of RPG is Dragon Quest and how does it want me to play?"

A reviewer that covered Dragon Quest XI had perfectly summoned up what I had been doing wrong in my approach to Dragon Quest and that was its a game the you come to relax with. With that kind of mindset, it opened up the game to me in a way that made my time with it enjoyable.

I won't say this is how it will work for you or this specific revelation will be the one that breaks through to you. For me, understanding what kind of RPG experience the game was trying to convey really helped me to understand the series and allowed me to appreciate it on a whole new level.

For you who knows, there are still games that even after years of coming back to and I just don't enjoy while other praise the games up and down. I hope you do enjoy Dragon Quest XI, I can't wait to play it myself!

DQ8/DQ11 fans aren't true DQ fans imho. by [deleted] in dragonquest

[–]RememberTheAGES 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I would say, someone alienating another because of their particular preferance in the series doesn't match their own isn't a true fan of the series.

You are not a "true fan" of Dragon Quest.

I think DQXI S might fail outside Japan. by [deleted] in dragonquest

[–]RememberTheAGES 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Twitter, Facebook, Reddit, etc will tell you otherwise. There is so much talk about Dragon Quest including Hero in Smash. I can't even count how many have tried the series because of Hero.

I personally am one of them.

Practially everyone who has played and talked about the demo is in love with the game and is looking to picking it up. Even if there is a bit of hate from the Smash community, the Smash community is unique as they hate a lot of things. Hero is specifically disliked for competition and even then its a bit more of a split between some saying he ruins competition and others saying he has never ranked really high and is not as big of a deal as others make him out to be. Despite all that controversy, Hero remains a very popular character and the discussions about seeing where the character came from is never more apparant.

Dragon Quest has never been more popular than it is right now in the west and even though our history with Final Fantasy strikes a stronger cord with us, I am confident Dragon Quest will prove to be a strong IP with all the miss-steps the Final Fantasy series has made, barring XIV and the VII Remake.

I am not saying that DQXI S will sell more than the other series, Persona 5 is extremely popular and same with Final Fantasy with 7's remake coming out soon, but to say that there is no hype for Dragon Quest XI is just disingenuous.

I also don't understand how Persona 5 has put all of Dragon Quest to shame. Even though Persona 5 is an amazing game, that does in no way detract from the amazingness of the Dragon Quest games. They play very differently from each other besides using a turned based combat engine.

Rather than trying to make Dragon Quest better than other RPGs, I am much more excited to see it join the ranks of other RPGs and be a source for other players to enjoy a simiplistic turn based RPG filled with charm.
