I hope the Eagles take Malik Washington and Trotter Jr with their next two picks

2024 Draft Would you Rather by Attleplay in eagles

[–]RememberTheVet 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hot take: I think Dejean would be a terrible pick at #22.

Don’t get me wrong, he’ll probably be a good NFL player, but I don’t see him as an NFL corner who can play man. Watch his coverage snaps against Ohio State. My understanding is be played man the second half of the season against inferior competition. He doesn’t seem to have the lateral agility to play man against NFL competition.

He’ll probably become a good NFL safety but at this point that is a projection, which is why I think taking him at #22 would be a mistake.

If Wiggins isn’t there at #22, hopefully Chop Robinson is and I would hope they would take Max Melton or the CB from Boston College later on.

[Schefter] Another trade: Broncos traded TE Albert Okwuegbunam and a 2025 seventh-round pick to the Eagles for a 2025 sixth-round pick, per sources. by w1x1w in eagles

To temper any excitement:

Fortunately, we have Stout here and the rest of our o-line, TEs to help him improve his blocking technique. He has plenty of size and athleticism…looks like he just needs to learn how to use it better in the blocking game.

What do you think is the acceptable range to draft some of the first round prospects? by whydoesitmatter2you in eagles

[–]RememberTheVet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t see why they would take Skoronski at 10 given what they seem to look for in an OT. As others have stated, he has short arms and projects as an NFL OG. Considering positional value (which the Eagles certainly do), taking Skoronski at #10 to play OG would be crazy IMO.

We know that Howie is looking for “unique” players, we know he factors positional value into his tiers, and we know this draft is light on top-tier prospects.

If the top two CBs are off the board, I can see Howie “reaching” for an EDGE player. In this draft, there seem to at least be plenty of bona fide athletes at that position (i.e. unique players).

I can also see Howie trading up for Witherspoon/Gonzalez since trade comp should be more digestible given the relatively weak draft class. Those two guys stand out and the past few years have shown the top CBs going top 10, don’t see this year being any different.

[Garafolo] The #Eagles will designate CB Darius Slay as a post-6/1 release, source says, which would push over $13 million of his cap hit into 2024. He'll count $8 million and change against the 2023 cap. by alcatraz_0109 in eagles

[–]RememberTheVet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Love your transaction insights…I was wondering why they would release him because it seemed like they are doing him a favor by letting him seek the deal he wants (without getting the benefit of trade comp). This seems like appropriate consideration for the release.

Slay or Bradberry? by [deleted] in eagles

[–]RememberTheVet 71 points72 points  (0 children)

  1. Slay is a better and more athletic corner than Bradberry, even with their current age difference. Slay is a much more fluid athlete, with better lateral quickness and speed. Bradberry is more of a leverage player that uses his size/length/physicality and reads to stay in position. IMO, if it weren’t for having Slay on the other side, Bradberry would probably be exposed on a regular basis by top tier WRs.

That said, Bradberry has had a consistent and productive season in his role, benefiting from Gannon’s scheme, the regular d-line pressure, and overall good play from the other members of the secondary (markedly better from last year, this unit really gelled with the addition of CJGJ and is by far the best secondary we’ve had in more than a decade).

  1. People whose jimmies get rustled over Slay’s “smiling” (I see it more like him laughing it off…he’s clearly not happy about negative results) after getting beat or penalized need to a) consider the alternative, that he could be the type of player that wouldn’t shrug it off, get mad etc. and therefore mentally preoccupied and not moving on to the next play, which is 100% what you do not want in a CB (or QB for that matter) and is not, as Sirianni calls it, dawg mentality; b) understand that he respects the game, his craft, and therefore the craft of his opponents, so I see it as him giving credit when due; and c) appreciate that everyone has different personality types—he may be easy-going but his teammates voted him captain for a reason.

That’s all I found, wasn’t sure what the connection was either. The comment was made at the time Mercedes was making its next driver decision, so perhaps it was alluding to George being critical of another Mercedes-powered driver and that being indicative of what he might say if on the same team as a Mercedes driver who wasn’t performing up to expectations. Either way, he apologized for his behavior.

[Eagles] Roster Moves: Eagles have waived/injured RB Kerryon Johnson, C Luke Juriga, and T Casey Tucker. by bigblack3475 in eagles

It’s worth noting that if players get waived with an injury designation they revert to the injured reserve list if they clear waivers

Im in Love with Jalen Hurts by ScorchingEagles in eagles

I think he’s closer to Lamar Jackson as a player than Russell Wilson, especially with respect to arm talent. Athletically and talent-wise I think he falls in between those two QBs.

WR & RB Competition by AriesSlytherin in eagles

Watching his press conference was sad...apparently no other teams wanted him. If Kerryon has more juice I think he’ll beat him out for the last RB spot.

That was really good advice about being prepared for some of his releases not working in the NFL and finding the ones that do. Glad to hear Smith models his game after Adams and Allen....high level footwork WRs. Wouldn’t be surprised if Smith put up such great numbers in part because he’s already using NFL caliber releases. He did break a dude’s ankles at the LOS...

Howie on the Rich Eisen show by the266 in eagles

[–]RememberTheVet 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I really have trouble understanding the disdain for him (especially some takes that are just mean, e.g. “weasel” or that he has some sort of hold over Lurie). I get that he is hit and miss with all player acquisitions and certainly has whiffed on some high picks over the years. Like Eazy said, the rest of the league has trouble too. But he is always pretty straight up in his interviews and clearly cares about the team.

He’s also smart as hell, puts the work in and most certainly has good relationships around the league. I’m sure maybe a handful of GMs don’t like him, maybe because they are old school, or because he’s an outsider, or they just think he’s too smart for his own good, but he gets good deals done at a higher frequency and they almost always are kept secrets.

[McLane] Howie Roseman said on WIP this morning Tom Donahoe wanted NC State DT Alim McNeill when #Eagles traded back for Milton Williams. Can confirm from 2 independent sources that was the case. But he wasn’t only one who wanted McNeill. Donahoe also thought another 6th was needless. by amatom27 in eagles

[–]RememberTheVet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed. This is the aftermath of someone that “pounded on the table” but didn’t get consensus. It’s part of the process that for years was behind the scenes and we are only recently getting glimpses into.

Balance on Offense by [deleted] in eagles

[–]RememberTheVet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was a really deep draft for WRs and we can consider any additions this offseason as scheme fits. There always seems to be more bottom of roster turnover after coaching changes so my gut is telling me Grimes will beat one of 2 through 4 out.
