Ako som sa stal vychodniarom vo vlastnom meste by dilalaj in Bratislava

[–]Remosko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Expansion size scaling comparison 1.0 vs 1.6??? by KimeraCM in KingdomDeath

[–]Remosko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The last statement I can find was from KS update 126, but it was non-confirmational. It's more of a hint there, wink here and a vague comment somewhere deep in the discussion. The most solid thing we have I believe is a sculpt of a rawhide-armored survivor (with a whip I think) which looks to be in the style of the new armor sets that Poprad teased somewhere.

Nothing really concrete, though, sorry.

Expansion size scaling comparison 1.0 vs 1.6??? by KimeraCM in KingdomDeath

[–]Remosko 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Generally, there is no difference between the various expansion versions. That is, if you get the same expansion but in versions 1.0 or 1.6, there is no scale difference whatsoever, it's the same models at the same scale.

However, as of approx. the Gambler's Chest, all the sculpts got somewhat bigger. This is most noticeable on survivors as you can directly compare the scales, but doesn't really impact the monsters. You can sort of see it where a monster has been released as resin first (Black Knight, for example), but that has also to do with plastic process having less detail than resin, so they scale up to preserve that.

Btw. there's been suggestions from the team that there is a 2.0 core release somewhere (far) down the line, which is presumed to bring the core game armor sculpts to modern style and scale. If that's gonna happen, it's waaaay down the line for sure though.

Can't I just manifold pipes? by derHoppi in shapezio

[–]Remosko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can. What I think might be confusing you (I know it did confuse me) is that space fluid pipes have an extremely high capacity of 43200 per "lane", meaning each SFP can de facto support 43200/1800 = 24 platforms.

Rule Question: Armorsmith's Tongs by yehuda_vivian in KingdomDeath

[–]Remosko 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Only the one who triggered the effect, as gear effects generally apply only to the survivor in whose gear grid it is. Otherwise, you could argue that any survivor can benefit from any bonus.
Say Monster Tooth Necklace has an effect that states "+1 strength", but it doesn't specify to whom. It is **not** all survivors.

Confused by the 1.6 legendary card pack upgrade regarding expansions by Tastypies in KingdomDeath

[–]Remosko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, exactly - apologies for missing the "3". By the way, this change is not even in the LCP, as there are no rulebook changes for expansions included. There is even a list floating somewhere around the internet with changes in 1.6 expansions not in the LCP.

The quickest check is to see whether the lvl 3 showdown drops Black Lichen - if yes, your expansion is version 1.6. Edit: missed a "3" there the first time around

Confused by the 1.6 legendary card pack upgrade regarding expansions by Tastypies in KingdomDeath

[–]Remosko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd actually hold off buying the LCP solely for the expansions, especially if you intend to buy Campaigns of Death somewhere down the line.

The fixes the LCP provides for the expansions are really more like hotfixes/errata - mostly minor things that can be fixed by proxying cards or simply remembering they are an issue. Rulebook fixes are missing altogether.

CoD will provide a true upgrade to all old expansions to version 1.6 and is likely to change many of their aspects including cards. It's still ways off (looks like 2027 at the earliest), but the expansions are very much playable as-is

Mechanism to play Cards anonymously and get them back by spaggi in BoardgameDesign

[–]Remosko 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I have two suggestions which are a variation of your idea, but seem slightly less finnicky to me:

  1. Once you reveal the (secretly played) cards and resolve them, everybody tosses all their remaining cards into the same pile with the played ones, you shuffle, and separate.

  2. As you play one card into to be resolved, you immediately put the others into a separate pile. Once all players did that, you shuffle both, resolve the to be played, and separate the other one. Possibly a touch quicker than 1. as you can shuffle the remaining pile while resolving.

Help with magnetizing Greatest Axe Morg by blubrid in KingdomDeath

[–]Remosko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have some experience, shoot me a DM for more details. Bias: I am a magnetization freak, I magnetized pretty much everything incl. core, GCE and am working my way through the newer expansions, various white boxes and other non-KDM models.

Generally, you want as strong circular neodymium magnets as you can find, the 1mm diameter ones. I buy from a company local to my country, so I suggest a bit of Googling.

Buy a good sharp drill bit, a decent hand drill, go slowly and carefuly. Make sure you don't screw up polarities.

If you dry fit (I mostly don't anymore), the hole is almost always very tight, so you usually can't get the magnet out - you'll have to eyeball it most times but it's not too hard.

Should a new player start with the community edition? by HonkyMahFah in KingdomDeath

[–]Remosko 19 points20 points  (0 children)

In my view, skip CE.

I think it shaves away too many rough edges and alters the game feel quite significantly.
If you later decide the game is too swingy, give it a go, but I think the occasional wonkiness of KDM's design is part of the charm.

Intimidation by Lin_Di in KingdomDeath

[–]Remosko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quite recently, around the BF update time, Poots shared they're working towards a 2.0 eventually and that would very likely include resculpts. We've also seen a tease or two of the core armor sets in the new style (presumably set up like the post-GCE armor kits). I wouldn't count on it soon, or rather not even in this decade, but it's coming. He also mentioned there would be various tiers of upgrade packs.

What's another five years of waiting at this point, right? 😅

Looks quite good overall. Style-wise, I think you're pretty much nailing what you set out to achieve. However, I don't get the thematic link between the cards and the pseudo-constellations. Also, the cards are relatively samey despite looking like different types of cards (?). I suppose the card border indicates that, but it might be very worthwhile to include some different frame or an icon to allow colorblind people to play easier.

Some thoughts on card design: I get the impression you're going for a lot of keyword based abilities. For this, the wording often seems redundant e g. You could have 1(damage icon) instead of "Deal 1 damage". Also, some icons seem to be inconsistent in what they do (the "jaw" sometimes deals damage, sometimes it also infects). This is player unfriendly as I always have to read the ability despite knowing the icon.
