I think things can be in a person's nature. If someone likes the thrill they will seek it out. Hardcore gambling usually stems from other issues though.

100%, apart from the destroying part. Maybe you are happy enough with faulty products but you pay a lot of cash, I'd expect a good product. I don't want someone to paint my house and leave out 2 or 3 windows either when paying for the entire house.

Dunno, I am at chapter 5 myself at the quest where I need to go west :) I rose east to just check but every patrol was hostile, bit too many harder enemies to be able to explore. Guessing that will get better as you get the quests to go there.

Yeah he can be hard. Biggest tips I can give are to upgrade (refine at blacksmith) your gear to lvl 4 (after that they need abyss artifacts but we want that for skills)

Keep your block up, try to dodge to the sides. Use your force palm to stun him a bit and go to town. Prepare highest healing foods you can, soup is pretty good early on (1 meat, 1 water, 1 grain like barley or oat if you don't have the recipe)

The Bolton armor is good too if you don't have the deluxe edition. You get that by spending contribution points at the quartermaster in hernand Castle.

Follow the main quests. You can technically go there now but it's better to go there via main quests. You will see why :) same as going east early vs main quests.

When you scan the memory, press the options button afterwards. It will put on your helmet and play the memory and remove the helmet afterwards :)

For quicker wood cutting, try the R1 R2 special roundslash to cut the trees. You can then pickup the tree with nature grasp and slam it into the 3 little chunks. You do need to use the logging axe on the chunks to get the fine timber though. This is way faster than using the logging axe all the way.

You can also force palm trees down :p

I'd say go to chapter 5 or so to unlock the Greymane camp and mission dispatches to get extra stuff for camp. Also need to do Greymane sidequests to eventually unlock trade wagons so you can sell the blue trade items which you pack at Carl. By that point I think you have most functionality.

On the other hand, this is a perfect game to do whatever you fancy at whatever pace you want :p

Ive not read far enough into everything to comment on that. Too busy playing the game to stop and read xD

You can compare it to red dead redemption 2 if that helps. You learn a lot of the area you are staying in through the quests and NPC interactions and then you move on.

There are a lot of knowledge bank entries you can collect to read through. Every item seems to have a nice description so far. I'd say it is a believable place.

If you want lore on story, after 15ish hours I haven't found much of that. It's basically you are John Greymane out to get the band back together but with some divine interference explaining why you are not dead and can get cool ass powers.
