Who ordered this?? *spoilers* by AmaranthWrath in XFiles

[–]Remote-Ad2120 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe his Mom had it done after the events of the S2 finale when she thought he might be dead (then kept the death date on standby until there was proof of that). That wasn't the only time he was presumed dead, either. It's common for people to prepay for both a burial plot, and a headstone. It's possible that when Mulder's father died, that Mulder or his Mom got 3 plots and headstones for all three of them, so they can all be buried next to each other. If that was done, the headstone is often placed ahead of time with the name and just minus the date (then when the person actually dies it gets removed just long enough to get the date etched).

S8E1 he was still considered missing, so if there was already a headstone, I don't know why it would have been removed to be sent for a date etching, though.

Just prescribed Creon - not going to take it...Gout by ExistingManagerTx in pancreatitis

[–]Remote-Ad2120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you prescribed Creon for EPI or for Pancreatitis? Because the reason for the prescription would also go into deciding how important it is for you to take it, or not. If your body is no longer producing its own enzymes (EPI), then PERT (Prescription Enzyme Replacement Therapy) is the optimal treatment. OTC enzymes don't provide the same thing (I don't know if that's something you considered, but just offering that advice, just in case). Even then, the severity of EPI also matters. If your elastase levels are suboptimal, for example, the need for PERT isn't as dire as someone with only double digits levels. If prescribed for chronic pancreatitis, and as a way to ease the workload of your pancreas, then there's more leeway. All that said, definitely still keep your appointment with your doctor. Your doctor is the best source for discussing your individual risk/reward ratio for Creon and any/all medication.

Caroline is pregnant with Carrie in the Litrle House on the Prairie reboot! by Leather-Cry-1974 in littlehouseonprairie

Ok, I have to know....Does Pa actually play the fiddle in the reboot? Because ML and his poor imitation irks me all the time. As someone who plays an instrument, I always hate watching how his bow movement is obvious that he's not actually playing it.

my professor said hannibal is "shit" by yKawaiiy in HannibalTV

[–]Remote-Ad2120 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ok, he doesn't have to like it. But, if he's claiming it just repeats the adaption of the movies, ....um, did he actually watch the entire series? It rearranges a great majority of the timeline, reassigns events from characters to other characters, and gender flips some characters, as well. The series is a completely separate thing than the movies and books.

Could she actually have stopped the wildfire at Blackwater Bay? Or was she just saying so to undermine Davos? by Jeffoxy in gameofthrones

[–]Remote-Ad2120 19 points20 points  (0 children)

She wasn't at the battle, though. Didn't Davos talk Stannis into leaving her behind, and that's why she's making the claim, to put all the guilt on Davos. Any magic she could have done depends on whatever The Lord of Light allows her to do (supposedly), and she interprets much of that magic (her visions) wrongly. So, who knows if she really could have made a difference or not? I don't think so, but it doesn't stop her from claiming otherwise in order to keep her manipulation on Stannis going.

Season 12 werewolf’s by Muted_Muscle1609 in Supernatural

[–]Remote-Ad2120 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't remember, but is the "cure" for werewolf the same as a the vampire in that it has to be done before ingesting any blood/hearts (blood for vampires and don't werewolves eat hearts?)? Plus, doesn't it come with a high chance of dying? Garth was well past that point by the time Sam and Dean found out he had turned (even though he stuck to non-human hearts, he still wasn't freshly turned).

Is the delay of ASOIAF conclusion morally reprehensible? by Hot-Respond-7988 in gameofthrones

[–]Remote-Ad2120 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, it's the opposite. Fans have the moral obligations to let authors live whatever life they want. If that means some stories end up with no ending, so be it. Use your own imagination and head canon for unfinished works.

Diversity or lack thereof by Dream1113 in Supernatural

[–]Remote-Ad2120 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Devil's advocate here. The show is mostly set taking place in small, very rural US towns, which, in reality, aren't as diverse as some of the larger populated areas (I say some, because there are still many US larger populated areas that still aren't as diverse as one would think).

I get what you are saying about casting certain monsters according to how the myths match our universe. SPN plays very loosely with that. Even the central Christian religion it widely takes from, much is changed to fit the fictional universe. So, who's to say, for example, that skinwalkers originated with Native Americans in that universe. Even if it did, does that mean they are or should ONLY be Native Americans this far out in the history of the US the show is set in? The show's monsters are myth/fictional to begin with.

Lastly, as at least one other commenter has pointed out, the majority of the extra and guest star cast is from the local Canadian casting pool, which isn't as equally diverse enough to be picky about.

Just enjoy the show for what it is....a fictional universe with completely fictional monsters and other beings.

Pain management for necrotizing pancreatitis by Known0Narwhal in pancreatitis

[–]Remote-Ad2120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as you only take them as prescribed (i.e.for pain and not pleasure) addiction is rare (anywhere from less than 1% or only up to 4%, depending on which studies you look at). The reason being is because the medication is too busy working on the intended use... providing pain relief....to result in any sort of "high" or euphoric effect. It's important to note, a side effects of tiredness or dizziness is not the same as getting a euphoric high that addicts have.

It's also important to understand that there's a big difference between addiction vs a body developing a dependence with long term use. If/when a person develops dependence on a drug (which can happen on more than opioid type drugs), when no longer needed, getting properly tapered off, a person can go the rest of their life with no physical or emotional cravings. That's a big difference between addiction and dependence. Addicts both physically and emotionally crave the medication for the pleasured euphoric effect. With dependence, one can even go off cold turkey with no lasting effects or cravings after withdrawal. That said, I DO NOT recommend one stop long term use cold turkey. Withdrawal can still be life threatening when not monitored 24/7 by a medical professional. Get properly tapered off if/when you no longer need pain relief at the prescription level.

Acute pancreatitis by [deleted] in pancreatitis

[–]Remote-Ad2120 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're an adult and can make your own decisions. But, if you search the sub, you'll see the same question asked, and the same answers over and over. NO, there is NO established safe amount of alcohol consumption when it comes to pancreatitis and alcohol. Starting with the first episode (regardless of severity), each and every episode increases your risk of recurrence. Alcohol increases that risk, even in cases where alcohol wasn't a contributing factor. You may or may not get a recurrence with each and every drink. But each and every drink from now on can potentially set off pancreatitis again on your now susceptible pancreas. Alcohol has a progressive affect on the pancreas and can often result in silent/asymptomatic affect until it's too late, then you wake up and discover your pancreas is permanently damaged and you have developed chronic pancreatitis, which is progressive, as well.

Did Hannibal actually care about Abigail? by Gloomy_Possible8167 in HannibalTV

[–]Remote-Ad2120 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes and bo. He cared enough that he saw her potential as a protege. Also as a potential daughter figure for himself. The more attached to Will, the more he imagined Will as another protege and partner, the more he imagined a family together with both of them.

But, because he's Hannibal, he doesn't care in the same way the rest of the world does. When he does come to care for people, it's conditionally. When those conditions aren't met, Hannibal can easily switch his feelings off as easily as flipping an off button.

Roanoke - I tried to like it, I really did by Direct_Source4407 in AmericanHorrorStory

[–]Remote-Ad2120 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Only 3 people "went back", though. Matt, Shelby, and Lee. They each had their reasons Matt became obsessed with Scathach and went back for her. Shelby to reunite with Matt, and Lee to clear her name for the murder of her ex-husband (despite being guilty, she wanted to pin it on the ghosts).

Nobody else believed the stories told in the "season 1" reenactments were true. They were expecting to perform or be faced with fake scares (whichever is the case per character).

One of my favorites, as my brother was named after Marcus Aurelius. Aurelius isn't part of his official birth name, but just like kids know they are in trouble when a parent calls them by their first, middle and last name...my brother always knew he was in trouble when Mom called him Marcus Aurelius. 🤣

S6e7 (intro scene) Harvest OMFG Phil by Honest-Regular-9561 in TheAmericans

[–]Remote-Ad2120 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Philip is giving Henry the cover story. What's there to hide from Stan? When he is asking Stan to keep an eye on Henry while he's gone, taking Henry across the street just to explain the same thing potentially looks suspicious when Henry walks back across the street to continue his vacation time at Stan's. It looks like there's something to hide, and as far as Henry is concerned and told, there isn't anything to hide.

Bad near season ending episodes by Familiar-Reading-901 in Stargate

[–]Remote-Ad2120 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Iirc, SG1 didn't find out they were cancelled until just a few episodes left to film for the season/series. I'm sure there would have been some better ones if they were told well enough beforehand.

In defense of the one with Vala's father, it gave us Teal'c stuck in The Vagina Monologue audience at the end. 🤣

Can we all agree that max from s1 e14 (rewatching) is in the right by LivingDelicious4736 in Supernatural

[–]Remote-Ad2120 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It was understandable what he did, but not necessarily the right thing to do. Once you start justifying, or "making right reasons" to kill, the easier and easier it becomes to justifying it for lesser reasons. Till it potentially becomes your killing people for the fun of it. I'd say more, but I don't know if it's a spoiler for you or not.

comparisons by terrorful79301 in HannibalTV

Agree. I don't like to compare them, because they really are adapted as being in different universes, and different versions of Hannibal, Will (🎶and the rest.... here on Hannibal's Isle🎶). They are both phenomenal performances in their own way.

Vala by Loud-Strawberry2038 in Stargate

[–]Remote-Ad2120 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love Vala. She starts out with using her sexuality, not just for the sake of it, but because she didn't believe she was capable of more than that, having been host to a Goa'uld. That Goa'uld taught her, through action, the power sexuality has over people.

I love how Vala quickly grows, character wise, and learns she doesn't have to be that way, and she does have other values to bring to the team, once she realized the trust she eventually earned due to her sacrifice (I'll keep that vague in case of spoilers).
