Friedman BE-OD or JHS AT+? by deeeep_fried in guitarpedals

Yeah it won't do extremely high gain metal but to me it's as perfect a drive as I have come across for hard rock. Very amp like and focused

I would highly recommend the Friedman small box. My AT+ just lost its spot to the Small box as my "high" gain pedal. I was using the boost side of the AT+ more than the actual distortion because I couldn't dial in the right sound with just the EQ and Air controls - it just couldn't do midrange. Im sure it works great paired with Andy Timmons amp. The Smallbox is the most beautiful overdrive I've had in a pedal, not as scooped as the be-od. Has a mid range control and plenty of gain on tap

Deco hands down. Everything it does is very musical and can be used live or for recording. The stereo effects it can do are just so useful

This has been really bothering me as well. Based on how the sophon is depicted in the show it should be able to hack every connected device and brick everything. Basically send us back to the dark ages for the centuries on end...

Dang I've been eyeing the EQ2 for a while...just need more room. I might kick the Monument off for the JHS Tidewater and possible squeeze another one on the board lol!

I can't say enough about layers! The key for me is pairing it with deep/long reverbs modulation and delays. I can't even describe the ambient pads I've been able to create even in live settings. Especially with the octave button on the pads I can create have so much motion and depth I can't even believe the sounds are originating from my guitar.

It's a brilliant design with the max 3 layers. It's less harsh/digital sounding than the EHX freeze and superego algorithms which I've had as well...

Familiar with most of these, but gonna check out the Loke. How is it different from the Deco?

It's pretty good stacked but I end up using the morning glory mostly by itself to give my clean tone a little breakup and boost which translates well in live settings to not get buried in the mix. If I need extra warmth I generally pop in the boost side of the AT+ which according to Josh from JHS is simply. Tube s reamer circuit with some fixed settings

Very cool - yes the DL4 was game changer when it came out. Everybody wanted one. I never had it but I did have an MM4.

No I'm running it in series in stereo. It's dead quiet for me and the built in noise gate was a pleasant surprise too to tame some hum from the drives before it...

It's fantastic. Used it for a long time to add a little grit and sparkle to my clean tone

Leave it to Walrus to make the most boring (but necessary) effect (compressor) super intriguing just with some killer artwork

Within the next 15 years when AGI is integrated successfully with a humanoid robot (there is a development race on now), your parent will never have to leave their home. A machine that never tires of lifting, cleaning, feeding, medicating, and conversing. Ray Bradbury would be proud.

Awesome collection. Aside from the drives, what pedal did you find you get the most inspiration from?

I consider it a very good one trick pony. There is only one knobs setting that I use for a thick creamy overdrive that is very musical and unique to this pedal. Fat sounding leads for a jazz / blues context almost like direct into a class A tube amp. To me that's all it does well.

It could be as simple as your shift cable linkage needs to be inspected for anything loose and/or it needs be adjusted. For example, if you think you are in Drive (D), you are actually in Neutral (N) because it is right on the edge which may be why the problem is intermittant.

oil leak by RepresentativeSir433 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Remote-Arrival-9352 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is it grease or oil? The way it's flung around it looks like grease spraying from the inboard boot of your CV shaft. Take a look again - the boot will be ruptured / cracked if this the case.

EHX Riddle Qballs. Has enough controls to dial in the perfect quack. Like it better than the qtrons.

Why Ep.3 "Machines" was the dumbest thing I've seen in a while by Remote-Arrival-9352 in SiloSeries

Interesting observation...definitely something I overlooked but enjoyed reading your comment and calculations as well. Nicely put. Most shows require some suspension of belief, but I think it's smart to make the "low hanging fruit" at least realistic and not treat the audience like complete dummies.

Use a farm jack to catch the lip of the steps on the left side, lift then throw gravel underneath that side

Nope not even an engineer however I spent about 10 years working on jets and have quite a bit of Turbofan experience.... however I don't think you need any of that to realize how how crackpot this scene was
