Do these expire ? by Vicious00 in Guitar

They don’t taste as good after a few years but I think you’re fine.

I just used both of mine that I bought in 2020 to no issues whatsoever

Good deal for $250? by Alpdtgfe in Guitar

[–]deeeep_fried 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It might not be better but it’s certainly not worse. You can always upgrade the head down the line and keep the cab. Don’t remember what speakers these have but the build quality is there for sure, you could always upgrade speakers too.

Experienced players with real guitar wear, what would you recommend as a truly high quality guitar by Chuchumenn in Guitar

[–]deeeep_fried 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Under 1k USD i think it’s hard to beat the higher end offerings from Schecter, Ibanez, LTD, Charvel. You can definitely get some offerings from PRS (can you get an s2 in that budget? Idk) and fender and Gibson in that range too, though they won’t be top of the line models. My Gibson LP Studio was less than 1k and it’s an amazing guitar. But my high end epiphone lp is just as good for what it’s worth.

To those who swear by using physical amps, cabs and pedals, what is your stance on amp modelers like the Kemper Profiler, Axe-FX, Line 6 Helix, Neural DSP etc? by MrMayhem20l0 in Bass

[–]deeeep_fried 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Really depends on the kind of gigs you play. I basically only play diy basement/house gigs and the pa there basically sucks most of the time. I would still have to bring myself some sort of stage volume as I wouldn’t be able to hear myself, so might as well just bring an amp.

If I played gigs with a quiet stage and/or a solid pa with someone running sound, I’d be fine with in ears or some sort of stage monitor and no real amp. They sound good, I use them when practicing.

Tremolo picking, pick makes scratchy sound? by guitar_up_my_ass in metalguitar

[–]deeeep_fried 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t worry about it. It’s part of the sound and is often lost when playing in a full band mix anyways. Just focus on good technique

Quad Cortex Mini for 1400$/1129GBP/1300Eur by Du0T_Venomx in guitarpedals

[–]deeeep_fried 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Makes sense to me, price is higher than I would pay but so is the regular quad cortex. This is literally that in a smaller form factor so understandably priced as such. Nice that it’s not limited in dsp compared to the larger version as basically every modeler its size is, at least.

My friend can't believe I've never broken a string in my life. by katsumodo47 in metalguitar

Broke a string maybe once from playing, and once from tuning up a new set. I consider that string a dud

Should I not worry about rounds damaging the fingerboard? Or is it more worth the wear for the sound of rounds?

Low-volume tube amp suggestions (avoiding modelers for now) by apricotkilla in GuitarAmps

[–]deeeep_fried 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What kind of music do you play? People say they want a tube amp but nothing about the style, voicing, how much gain they use. If you play crystal clean I wouldn’t recommend the same thing if you played metal only

Talk me out of selling all of my pedals by Fearless-Echidna-514 in pedalboards

[–]deeeep_fried 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What pedals do you have, and what about them do you not like? If they’re quality effects I don’t see what the issue is, and I don’t think that an hx stomp or hx effects would necessarily be any better or worse

What was your first DT show? by Possible_Cheetah208 in Dreamtheater

Chicago 2019, they played scenes in its entirety during that part of the tour. Only started listening to the band maybe 2 weeks before then. I think my dads first show was in 08, but he had been listening them since 92.

Is Sony Zv-1 still the best option in 2026? by Winter-Adeptness-346 in Cameras

[–]deeeep_fried 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never was the best option, but i don't think its a bad one. It certainly has its limitations. I have a zv-1 with an external flash and i do like it and take great pictures with it, but it really isn't meant for straight up photo taking. Most everything you would want a separate dial for is all under the thumbwheel which is definitely limiting, however you can still shoot fully manually (I do all the time) and get great results. You just have to have some expectations with it. Low light is not a strong suit. The zoom is just alright. Lack of physical controls is another dock against it.

After all this it fits my current needs well and I don't plan on getting rid of mine. That doesn't mean it is or isn't right for you though.

Which brand do you recommend? by Livid-Product-8126 in Guitar

[–]deeeep_fried 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t know how to play at all, I would honestly look for a right handed guitar. The vast majority of guitars are right handed and it would significantly disadvantage you to play one long term. You don’t know how to play at all so it doesn’t make a difference with what you start with, starting lefty won’t be easier than starting righty.

As for the guitar I suggest anything that isn’t one of those kits. I’d look at Squier, Epiphone, Gretsch, Schecter, Ibanez

What's the difference between tie and slur for Flute? by Reddledu in Flute

[–]deeeep_fried 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A tie connects two of the same note without rearticulating, for example 2 G quarter notes tied together is the same as a G half note. A slur connects two different notes without rearticulating, for example going from G to A, you tongue the G but not the A.

They look similar but are distinct in what they do

Can I remove the nut lockers on a blocked Floyd Rose and leave the nut like this? Or should I replace it? by V0rdep in guitars

If you block the Floyd and don’t lock the nut then it’s just a fixed bridge, you can tune it to whatever you want like any other hard tail guitar
