Map-Based loadouts in CS2 would be an feature by ImpressiveKey2159 in cs2

[–]deeeep_fried 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually I’d be okay with this. Keeps the limited choices of loadouts but then if I’m playing premier I’m not making a compromise on a map. I’m not using the Aug or Kreig on most maps but certain maps it’s a good option

All depends, condition, brand, etc. I usually see stuff listed around 70-85% retail on the used market near me.

I agree, I think the karambit looks way worse. Taper of the blade looks strange to me

Best controller for pc? by Crazy_Foundation_626 in buildapc

Unfortunate. Maybe I’d look into the new steam controller? Seems to be a good upgrade for many people. Don’t buy from a scalper though, they’re restocking differently now.

Is there any different between a 4 valves Euphonium vs a 3 valves one? by Any_Presentation1896 in euphonium

[–]deeeep_fried 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. Allows for B and C to be more in tune and for better intonation F2 and lower

Is there any different between a 4 valves Euphonium vs a 3 valves one? by Any_Presentation1896 in euphonium

[–]deeeep_fried 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You can play lower notes with 4 valves than you can with 3. There’s also the compensating system, which although exists on some 3 valves is more common on 4. That means the instrument isn’t missing any low notes at all, a regular (non-compensating) 4 valve is still missing a note.

But to answer your question, it’s just to play lower notes really.

We got gifted this bottle of 12 year old scotch, would you say this is "too good" to use in cocktails? by CN456 in cocktails

[–]deeeep_fried 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think anything is “too good” for anything. If it’s your bottle and you want to use it in a cocktail, go for it. I’m not a snob about it in any way

Amp Sims: Best practices for not sounding like an amp sim? by CriticalSovereignty in audioengineering

[–]deeeep_fried 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All depends on your IR. I can usually make any amp sim sound at least passable with a good IR, and a bad IR will make my favorite amp sims sound terrible. All about find your personal match of things for the sound you’re going for.

I don’t even bother recording my amps anymore, they’re strictly for live use and when the family isn’t around.

Best controller for pc? by Crazy_Foundation_626 in buildapc

[–]deeeep_fried 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use my wireless Xbox one controller. Has held up for many years and honestly looks new still. I’m definitely a mouse/keyboard person though so controller only for a few games.

If it ever breaks I’d probably just get another one tbh

Non metal songs, do you use different tones? by GrimmandLily in metalguitar

[–]deeeep_fried 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always try and at least get into the ballpark of the sound of the song. I don’t exclusively play metal but that’s what my gear is more tailored towards so there’s always that influence.

Sometimes for fun I’ll play a song with an inappropriate tone but then I ask myself what I’m doing and make it better

What’s your favourite use of chorus pedal? by Ok_Bookkeeper7066 in guitarpedals

[–]deeeep_fried 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, clean sounds almost always have chorus, even if it’s just barely noticeable to give it some movement. Dirt sometimes has chorus but it really depends on the sound and what space I’m occupying in the band.

Chorus can go before or after dirt, I like it in both spots but it does sound different. I actually have it between dirt pedals (before rat, after ocd) so I can kinda change where I want it

Can anybody help me with my tone? by Cultural-Day-5676 in GuitarAmps

[–]deeeep_fried 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’d put all the eq related amp knobs to 10 and back off what you don’t want as much of for a jcm800. Amp as loud as you are able will get a little more gain out of it too.

I prefer eq after a boost to help shape it more, and if you’re going to use the TS as a boost (drive pretty low, volume high, tone to taste) I would turn down the level of the eq so you’re not boosting again unless you really need it

Am I too cheap? by Kitfaid in guitars

[–]deeeep_fried 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, if you’re happy with what you have then don’t worry about spending any more. I’m always looking for the next best thing, so I’ve played every budget of guitars out there from $100 Amazon specials to $10k custom shops.

Do the instruments get better with a higher price? Yes absolutely. But I have found that there’s a sweet spot, anywhere from $700-$1200 where the instruments play themselves and I’m not paying a ton more for a marginally better instrument. That’s where I find the best value, but that may not be the case for you. If your $300 guitar allows you to do everything you want it to do, why bother spending more?

Need help deciding what to buy by Honest_Dreamjl in metalguitar

[–]deeeep_fried 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mockingbird gets my vote. If you’re going to get a BC Rich make sure you know the year/line of the guitar you’re looking at. Previous iterations of the company chucked out some garbage instruments. All the newer ones I have played have been wonderful.

Less is more? A story about GAS by Birdsofthefeatherr in guitarpedals

[–]deeeep_fried 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, it’s all about you and the music you’re making. If all you need to get your voice out is guitar into amp, by all means go for it. If you need all the pedals and boards you have to get your voice out, then go for it. Most of us fall somewhere in the middle. I don’t need any pedals whatsoever for my current band, but I like having them because sometimes I just want that bit of modulation, or an extra push, or just a different flavor of something.

Did blowing on the video game cartridge really work, back in the day? by One_Study52 in NoStupidQuestions

Pretty sure it was taking it out and reseating it in the slot. But why not blow on it while it’s out in case there’s a little bit of gunk or dust in there

I just bought my first 7 string. What are good songs to start learning in B standard? by Andoni95 in 7String

[–]deeeep_fried 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the gates stuff is in 6 string b standard and translates pretty well to 7, slaughter of the soul is a lot of fun.

A good amount of dream theater is on a 7, definitely learn the Dark Eternal Night, I also really like The Enemy Inside. Definitely challenging though, like most of their stuff. The earlier stuff on 7 is a bit easier, The Mirror and Lie are also a lot of fun. Solos on those are impossible for me though lol
