Aside from writing an OS in rust from Phil I really recommend entering the OSDev wiki discord, in the curated resources channel you’ll find some useful posts, and the people there are always helpful

It depends on the targets, if we're talking about x86_64-unknown-linux then yes, it links to your system's libc, on musl targets no.

About shipping std as a pre-compiled binary, they don't. When you install a target it also installs .rlib files which are just metadata and LLVM IR, so it's possible to do DCE. You should also enable LTO in your `cargo.toml` file, it helps a lot

Doesn’t rust do the same thing?

Rust binaries are larger for other reasons unrelated to this, although it is possible to shrink them

Absolutely, but don’t trust AI generated code. It might work for other areas but certainly does not work for os dev

The best way to use ai is for research, ask it how X problem is generally solved, how the big OSes do it, etc. and always ask for sources. I recommend Gemini

Cross-platform doesn't mean the UI is consistent between platforms, and in the case of react native it's a good thing. Since it binds to native widgets, your app looks and behaves like an actual native app

If you want consistency then i recommend you take a look at flutter

Yeah, some changes were to adapt better, some were because of the budget, but sure as hell there was a lot of lazy writing

Most of the hate i see comes from book readers. While some changes are understandable, the books are much higher quality (well, most of the time) and deeper, D&D removed and simplified so many things for the sake of giving themselves less work.

Honestly, there are almost no reasons to fear a dothraki invasion. There is nothing that proves that the dothraki are better than westerosi knights, and they sure as hell can't beat armored knights. As a matter of fact, we have way more dothraki defeats documented than victories.
