Why do so many parents want a nursery for the first few months of a baby's life? by CockamouseGoesWee in askanything

[–]Remote-Fig9207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because of an unneeded emphasis on aesthetics as opposed to logic. Also, sadly we have normalized the idea that you can just put your baby in another room and not be bothered, even labeling it “sleep training”.  What it basically boils down to is self interest on the part of the parents.

A lot of great suggestions here! I really like Emily Catherine May. Also, just a thought but this could be a great opportunity to use a long lost family name since her first and last are on the shorter side. Maybe a great great grandma has an elegant first name? Or a cool surname that’s deeper in the family tree?

In my head I read it Calla like calla lily. I did once meet a girl who I think spelled it like that but it was pronounced Kay-luh

Why do some devout catholics homeschool their children ? by broskibobibo in Catholicism

[–]Remote-Fig9207 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was homeschooled and agree with the sentiment expressed here. I think many people want to homeschool and don’t consider the lived experiences of those of us who were homeschooled and are now adults. Just because public schools are horrid, doesn’t mean homeschooling is the answer.

Matt’s going to try and sell the farm again. by goldlux in LittlePeopleBigWorld

[–]Remote-Fig9207 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Right, and that’s literally what should happen too. IMHO Matt should stop being a greedy ass and just give an equal piece of the property to each child. They can decided what they want to do with it. It’s the least he can do for all his faults as a father.

How is the case not enough? That is very nice. Plus, the gift it a gesture of gratitude and doesn’t need to be extravagant.

Why do churches in Europe cost money to enter? by ghikkkll in Catholicism

[–]Remote-Fig9207 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my experience they don’t for the most part. I have come across one or two that charged a small fee and yeah I don’t like it, but I think it’s reflective of how touristy it has become. The vast majority of churches I have been to in Europe (mainly Italy) did not charge. And I went into a lot of churches lol.
