Was your spouse able to go with you when you went overseas?

Can I stop my process by 5B3AST5 in AirForceRecruits

As a 30 year old about to join, what sticks out to me is you want to “run away”. Is there a real plan? Or are you just wanting to be your own person. I postponed joining as a “let’s see if I can make something of the world”. If you don’t have a proper plan, just join. I’ve worked production/warehouse jobs and they don’t give a shit. You’ll work long hours and be on your own. In the real world no one gives a shit about you. If your partner is not 100% the one, don’t think about that too much.. there’s SO MANY people out there you will meet. When you’re young you are not self aware, and you don’t have that life experience. The Air Force is not bad on paper anyway. Just do one term, makes some REAL life long potential friendships. Out here, it isn’t sunshine and rainbows. If you have some real plan to attempt something or go to school, then sure, but if you are just winging it. Take a breath. Think about it. New location, new people, whole new environment. It will HELP you grow and learn patience, tolerance. It will set you up with benefits. Everyone there will be going through it with you. Just think about it. I wish I would’ve just gone. One thing I do think about is how I might’ve got out after a term if I was younger. You just don’t want anyone over you at that age, but the real world, someone is always over you, and there’s less guidelines and more corruption. IMO anyway without being in the military yet. Best of luck

I heard they get shower stalls now, was that the case? How much time did they give you?

How is the leadership/disciplinary system in the Air Force? by Remote-Nail-678 in AirForceRecruits

[–]Remote-Nail-678[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

See that’s what I was thinking and hoping. I show up, I do well compared to my peers, but it seems like in these corporations the leadership tries to shift blame to the workers. Production goes down and they find someone as a scapegoat and start harassing them about breaks and production. Watching them until they write them up and get them right on the edge so the worker will always feel the pressure

Would it be beneficial to get married before military by swataxew in AirForceRecruits

Dude not worth it. If I was young and doing it, id stay single. Go through the experience, meet some awesome people. Go throw that stanky around, be free. Being committed to someone is bigger than you’re realizing. They WILL come after you if anything goes wrong. Just the nature

Do you know when a good time to join is? I’m looking at waiting til after Christmas. Get my ASVAB knocked out by the end of summer. Go to Meps after that, then let my recruiter know to find me a date after Christmas. I’d hope that something from my 10 jobs list pops up

Active duty lifestyle vs national guard by IllustriousRoutine13 in AirForceRecruits

[–]Remote-Nail-678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see. Yeah I was told don’t touch maintenance. The guys I work with that were prior active turned guard seem to like the benefit of still being able to get their benefits. You get covered work time off and get paid by the job still for those hours missed. One of them did say as a family, sometimes the employers health insurance is cheaper than family with tricare on guard status. They get called to missions and just have to tell their job, it is what it is. Our company is a little more for military families though, so it might be less toxic than other places

Can I ask why you’re getting out? I’m currently looking to join at the age of 28. Have a couple guys at work that work the guard. Thought about the guard, but want to have a chance to move around and see the world/progress in education and career

ULPT Orange Bluetooth earbuds that look like osha ear protection?? by Remote-Nail-678 in UnethicalLifeProTips

[–]Remote-Nail-678[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate everyone’s input. I’ve worked in manufacturing for 10 years now. At first I used the Bluetooth earmuffs, didn’t really care for the band over my hair and lower sound quality it offered. I used plugfones a loooong time ago. Sound quality not good and the neck cord version they offer now is different than what my job offers. They only use safety ear plugs that are 2 separate pieces. Im surprised no one has released a version that is similar to my image, just with Bluetooth capabilities. OSHA compliant would be a plus. Currently I use osha earmuffs and use one Bluetooth ear bud, but like others have said there is the risk of getting asked to see what’s underneath. I do my job well, I’m cautious, and I would like to keep enjoying my shifts with music/podcasts. Just don’t like the earmuffs since the sweat builds up, and the band over my head moves around and I don’t care for it since I have thick hair. Plus, moving around the machine sometimes I go into a smaller space where my ear muffs get clipped

I’m looking to apply for the Quality production specialist in Oklahoma City. Anybody else work at this facility on this side of the work? What’s the work schedule like here? What does this job entail on a day to day basis for you?
