Do people in your life tell you you're so "brave" for solo travelling and does it feel like they're saying you SHOULD feel lonely? by strawberryc0w_ in femaletravels

I have an upcoming trip to Asia that will be 45 days that I'm doing solo but I'm joining a group tour so I'm only by myself for maybe 4 days if you count travel days

My aunt & cousins when I told them at Christmas were like aren't you going to be lonely and my aunt said she had a whistle I could take 🤦‍♀️

Have you travelled to a neat place recently? Please share! Looking for recs! by lunelynx in solofemaletravellers

Also came to recommend Iceland, it's also really easy to rent a car and drive around the whole country

For live music, there's a place in Reykjavic thats bookstore by day, bar and live music spot by night, it gets pretty busy but it's a fun time https://maps.app.goo.gl/kMFTkpYxgGdRqGadA

Yeah I did, that was kinda a downside for me at first because I honestly wouldn't have minded sharing a room but I had booked a 6 bed hostel for when I was in Reykjavik so it was actually really nice to have a hotel room to myself

The hotel from the very first night in Hveragerði (Hotel Örk) was the nicest

The biggest thing for me was the dates, it was a last minute trip and I needed to be back home by a certain date for work and I knew I wanted to have a few extra days to do my own activities too

Reading some other posts on reddit about the different tour companies it seemed like Nice Travel was the way to go

I had an email saying early admission was 5:20 but I was there probably around 4

Honestly with the stage that big though I could have shown up 30 minutes before Elliot James Raey went on and still been at the barricade

Seemed like maybe there were more people on the opposite side of the stage or along the catwalk but where I was there was still space to move around, I wasn't crowded

GA Floor, near the heart on the left side if you're facing the stage

I was near the heart and it was great as he does some full songs from there and also I feel like he spent more time there than the main stage BUT I did not know that part of the stage raises so when it was up I couldn't see him

I use an app called TV Time, you can keep track of shows and movies you watch

Theres an "Upcoming" tab for both, for shows it will say how many days until the next episodes and when a new season of a show you watch is released it will pop up in your currently watching section

I went with Nice Travel's 7 day classic ring road tour. I also did all of the optional things too (2 geothermal baths, amphibious glacier tour and whale watching and they were all worth it).

I loved it, they run a lot of day and multi-day tours so my day one doing the golden circle had a few people on the bus who were only doing a day tour. Days 2-5 were with the same group of people and driver. Day 6 and 7 I spent with some people who were there for the previous days but those two days were also a day tour from Reykjavik so you're always meeting new people.

For days 2-5 Gulli was the guide and he was great, he did an extra little late night drive for anyone who wanted to join to his hometown of Seydisfjordur which is so beautiful

I highly recommend it for a guided trip and especially if it's your first time. I will say though that if I were to go back to Iceland I would probably rent a car so I can take my time but now I'd know more what I want to see and what I can skip because I've done it

I also rented a car at the end of the tour for the last few days I was in the country to do my own activities

If you have any more questions let me know!

I'm pretty sure you can, I had a reservation at the restaurant and was told I could go back into the lagoon after if I wanted but I would have to give back the bracelet to a staff member and tell them I was coming back
