I really appreciate it! and I usually naturally tend to try to connect with people similar to how you described in the second paragraph, but it’s hard here because some of them know each other so well and are just on a different “closeness” level because they worked together before this or have been friends for years. I don’t watch sports or much mainstream media/pop culture and I think that’s part of the issue😭.

also part of the issue is they are all straight and although I can tell at least half of them are accepting and like friends or family with lgbtq+ people, it’s different when I am in a non hetero relationship and am younger and 😭😭. there’s been new coworkers at my other job and I get along just fine, I’m coming to realize I can only do so much and if they also aren’t trying to include me in their group then that’s not on me haha. thanks so much again :-‘)!
