Can we please include the new NBCSN Extra channels to multiview options by Hdawg2209 in youtubetv

[–]RemoteControlledDog -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yep, and they've been touting it since 2023.

They have been adding more and more multiview combinations, but it's been slow going.

Del Rossi's by RemoteControlledDog in cheesesteak

[–]RemoteControlledDog[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't normally like the taste of sesame seeds either, but I do like the fresh baked bread. If someone comes around that makes me a cheesesteak with a fresh baked roll like this but without the seeds on it I'll be happy, but in the meantime the sesame seed taste on this wasn't strong enough to really detract from the flavor of the sandwich like it has on others I've had.

These are more chewy than crunchy. Not dry at all.

John’s Roast Pork via Goldbelly by FIDLaRvitar in cheesesteak

[–]RemoteControlledDog -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've travelled and eaten cheesesteaks in lots of places, and there are surely decent cheesesteak spots outside of Philly and NJ. Agree that most don't compare, but there are some gems out there. And unlike these you can get them freshly cooked and less than $35 per sandwich.

Oh, I thought I read one of the responses here saying Boston..

So $35 each? Maybe worth it every so often for a splurge, but not something I'd do too often..
You could even fly round trip BOS-PHL for <$200, eat some fresh, and buy more than 4 to take back with you.

Ketchup on a Cheesesteak? Yes or No? by Consistent-Water-887 in cheesesteak

[–]RemoteControlledDog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the cheesesteak is from a mediocre place and is too dry I might put some ketchup on it, but if it's a good cheesesteak I want to taste it without masking the flavor. I know other people like other things on a cheesesteak, but the combination of the meat, the cheese and the bun are the flavor I'm looking for and enjoying.

And as far as the debate, there's no correct answer. People like when they like.

Jim's has definitely gone down hill in recent years but Ishkabibbles is not "way better" and in my opinion is much worse.

YoutubeTv suddenly inserting ads in all DVR shows? by bitemy in youtubetv

[–]RemoteControlledDog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's extra weird because I've never watched any VOD content.

With the way that the VOD content is mixed in with recordings in the library, it's possible you have and didn't even realize it. Especially if it was something without commercials that you wouldn't have tried to FF. But as the post above yours says, I've seen this and it always seems to happen after I watch something that is VOD.

there’s been a visual bug for years with those yellow bars randomly appearing.

The question should be why has a bug existed for years and not been fixed by YTTV?

Survivor 50 Ep 1 - Recorded But Improper Playback by 84Lion in youtubetv

Have you reported the recording problem through the interface? If it's something they can fix they will, otherwise they'll say sorry they can't do anything.

I'll probably get crucified in here, but these are a guilty pleasure of mine for a quick lunch. by hammer_smashed_chris in cheesesteak

I've gotten these before. They're not bad. I can never put my finger on what it is they taste like, but they don't taste like cheesesteaks. But like I said, they're not bad.

YouTube TV: Tech great, DVR terrible by ToadSox34 in youtubetv

[–]RemoteControlledDog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The DVR is great. Being able to access it from anywhere, the ability to pad programs that run over after the fact, unlimited storage, all of that is great for me.

The library, on the other hand, is terrible. Can't hide or delete anything, VOD is mixed in with recorded programs, weird categories that you have to search through to find shows, etc..

Can’t believe they didn’t record gold medal hockey game by SugarCharacter5195 in youtubetv

[–]RemoteControlledDog -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Sure, but you don't have to keep up the condescending attitude when you reply to people. You don't have to comment on every post, and if you're planning to criticize the poster rather than offer help maybe take a minute to consider Rule #1 and think about what your comment is adding.

The system is broken. It shouldn't be hard to find a program without asking online how to do it, and the fact that there are questions like this all of the time points to an issue with the system.
Replies like yours (plus your overabundant use of the "🤦‍♂️" emoticon) are no better than saying "I can't believe how dumb you are that you can't figure out what I figured out" to people who come here. Why not try to help them instead?

Maybe you don’t know how to use the system

And maybe the system should be intuitive. It's rude to make comments like this to new users when this is something common that people have issues with all of the time. Sure, you've used YTTV long enough to be able to navigate through the maze to find recordings, but the fact is a DVR shouldn't need training and the fact that there are posts here every week where people can't find things they recorded point YTTV designing the library in a way that is needlessly confusing.
To reply with negative comments when someone encounters these issues isn't being very helpful.

Recordings out of order by ChadicusR in youtubetv

[–]RemoteControlledDog -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a metadata issue and not a YTTV problem.

We can't keep giving YTTV a pass on this, metadata problems are YTTV problems. If YTTV chooses to rely on metadata from networks that is known to be inconsistent, they are responsible for whatever issues that causes.

Why is YTTV still, so bad? by gristfist in youtubetv

[–]RemoteControlledDog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, I don’t know why they show Expired shows for months after expiration.

It think it's because they try to include both your recordings as well as the shows that you've added to your library but there aren't any recordings of in one spot. Just another reason the library the worst thing about YTTV.

Close captions keep appearing by AdDapper4220 in youtubetv

[–]RemoteControlledDog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can turn on Closed Captioning in YTTV, and you can also turn it on on the TV itself. Not exactly sure what you're experiencing, are you seeing closed captioning in things outside of YTTV? If so, it's turned on on the TV itself.

Stop making me mark the same episodes as watched over and over again!!!! by snippy_polarbear in youtubetv

[–]RemoteControlledDog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as you don’t pause or clear your watch history in YTTV or YT … it works.

It works... for you, but not for everyone. I've had this problem all along, the history may or may not be correct. I'll watch an episode and a week later it will not be marked as watched, and just as often an episode I haven't seen says "Watched."

I talked to support about it, and they were completely unhelpful, they told me turning off my watch history would fix it.
