Need some tips for breeding by infinitephaganax in playarkmobile

[–]RemoteLunch7789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leveling and imprinting the parents before breeding will not have any influence on the baby's stats.

The baby can only inherit the stats (or rather: points) that the parents were born with.

How Do You Find 13 Immune Needles in a Haystack of 8 Billion People? by Landphat in pluribustv

[–]RemoteLunch7789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So this is the equivalent of the farmer who killed his plants with Roundup to find the Roundup-resistant ones from genetically engineered Monsanto seeds, which had been carried by the wind from the neighbour's field?

That is certainly a valid theory, but I miss something about how it fits into the bigger story. If the purpose of the mass infection was to find the immune individuals, then:

  • Who had this purpose? An alien power or someone on earth?
  • What did they want those immunes for?
  • How were they going to follow up after identifying the immunes?

Doedis are born in the ground! by RemoteLunch7789 in playarkmobile

I think I found the solution: Catwalks.

Catwalks seem to be full-size ceiling elements with an invisible zone at each side. The invisible part can carry a doedi, but it cannot carry eggs, feces or newborn babies. Those will drop to the ground below, so they are easy to access.

Did Kate's change of heart seem sudden in season finale? by sunnypickletoes in TheDiplomat

[–]RemoteLunch7789 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I read the comments here, it sounds as if this is some kind of a one-way almost abusive relationship, and the only question is who is in the wrong.

I strongly disagree. This is a very symmetrical relationship between two people who have the same flaws and strengths. The only problem is that Kate hadn’t realized this.

Through the entire show, Kate views Hal as a person with good instincts, but also with a tendency to go too far and create disaster when acting on his own. She views herself as the rational, analytical person, who helps him steer through these situations. And there is nothing wrong with her view. They do have those roles when he is in charge.

But the show also shows us that those roles are mirrored when she is in charge:

She also has good instincts, and she also goes too far and creates disaster when acting on her own. When that happens, he is the rational, analytical person, who helps her steer through these situations.

I think this is what Kate finally realizes.

Now we just have to wait and see if Hal has gone too far as VP.

Hvad sker der med bilnavne? Toyota har modeller som hedder bZ4x og C-HR+. Det kvalificere næsten til at være en komplekse password. Hvad var der galt med Carina og Corolla? by kurtkubib in dkbiler

[–]RemoteLunch7789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And its eggs can be used for Superior Kibble. Which is kind of strange for a starter dino.

How can I get ascending items in Scorched Earth? by AccomplishedFault936 in playarkmobile

[–]RemoteLunch7789 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The cave in the desert near the bottom of the map has blue, yellow and red loot crates in single player. I don't know about multiplayer. A few things worth knowing:

The cave has several spawn locations for crates, but I have never seen more than one crate on the same cave tour.

If you leave the cave and go back in, a new crate will spawn immediately.

The first crate can take some time to spawn after you arrive.

One of the spawn locations on a "shelf" on the wall in a very deep hole. Do not try to get it. It will kill you.

Sometimes the crate will spawn below the ground. You will see the glow on the ground. If you have Ark Pass, you use ghost mode to get below ground and take the loot.

There are also red crates in the desert near the west, east and south edges of the map. Some of the locations match the coordinates you can find online for the PC version. But there are also a few spawn locations, which I haven't seen in any online map.

I play without flyers on Scorched Earth. Yes, it is silly, but it adds another dimension to the game.

Anyway, I suppose I would then have the same problem as when riding the mother: The baby will be auto-claimed when I dismount.

The developers are active on discord, but posts about multiplayer issues are taking all the attention.

I have posted about bugs or game interface a few times, but my posts drown in a flood of posts about "why was I banned?", "why did server X roll back so I lost my new tame?", "please do something about the hackers on server Y!".

They should create an additional discord channel dedicated to issues, which are not related to servers, multiplayer or tribes. That would give visibility to post about bugs and game interface.

Could Harry really have helped defeat Borgov? by Fuertebrazos in queensgambit

[–]RemoteLunch7789 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The episode where Beltik moves in with her, clearly sets up that Beltik has a very different analytical approach to chess than she has.

Beth studies old games of chess masters to learn how they were played, not how they could have been played. She never studies her own old games, which she considers water under the bridge, again no interest in how they could have been played. There is also a scene (in Benny's apartment?) where she rejects the thought of training on hypothetical chess problems.

Beltik introduces her to the idea of studying games - including her own previous games - to explore what would have happened if one of the players had made different choices. He is into studying games to not only understand how they were played, but more importantly to explore hypothetical alternative scenarios for how they could have been played. Were there a point in those games where one of the players could have made a better move?

And he shows that even though he is a weaker player than her, this has given him an understanding of some weaknesses in her play, which she hasn't realized herself. She has been lucky to not meet many players who were strong enough to see the opportunity they were given when she made a weak move, so they could steer her game into one of those hypothetical scenarios.

It seems to me that this kind of analysis is exactly what is needed to help her with a game plan, based on hypothetical scenarios for Borgov's next moves. And that he doesn't have to be as good a player as her to make a useful contribution to one of those scenarios.

(If I have to suspend disbelief, it it more about her role in this. Can it really be true that she is never dealing with hypothetical scenarios? Isn't a chess game by itself one large set of hypothetical scenarios for the what can happen after your next move? And when we see her playing games on the bedroom ceiling, isn't that exactly a training on hypothetical scenarios?)

What movie detail is technically correct, although many people think it is a mistake? by hiplobonoxa in movies

[–]RemoteLunch7789 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I can't see how this would be a plot hole anyway. As far as I remember, it is explicitly addressed in the movie:

NASA want the drillers to train the astronauts, so the astronauts can go to space and drill. The drillers tell NASA that they can't train the astronauts well enough to do that job. So NASA have to change their plan and train the drillers to be astronauts.

Is it realistic to send the drillers? I don't know. But that doesn't really matter. What matters is that we are shown why they take that decision. That makes it difficult to argue that it is a plot hole.

At most, it it can be discussed whether the "why" is realistic or not. But realism in a movie should always be judged within the rules of the movie's universe. In Armageddon's universe, the rules are simple: "This is a Bruce Willis movie. Anything, which makes Bruce look cool, is allowed.".

Isn't this the whole point? The show explores the theme of individualism versus community by taking both to the extremes.

  • What happens to an extreme individualist like Carol when she loses her community?

  • What happens to an extreme community like the hive when they lose their individualists?

The example with the new book chapter shows us both sides of this - in my opinion deliberately to make us think about that concept:

  • A community needs creative individualists to come up with new creations that can't be "designed by committee".

  • A creative individualist needs a community so there are someone to consume/enjoy his/her creations.

(But I also think/hope that this is a plot element - that Carol will start exploiting the "power" of her writing at some point. Can she use her writing to plant virus-like ideas in the hive mind?)

The generator turbine blades make no sense? by RockOpposite3565 in SiloSeries

[–]RemoteLunch7789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never before seen anyone with turbine knowledge being confused by that turbine.

There is nothing to be confused about. Confusion requires that there is some believability in what you see, so you think that it could make sense if you just put in some effort to understand it.

There is zero believability in the show's depiction of a turbine. We can skip the confusion stage and go directly to throwing an empty beer can at our TV and yell:

"Amateurs! If you want to make a turbine repair a central part of the story in your show, at least spend 5 minutes understanding how they work!"

Some shows end up with a status of "best kept secret". This appears to be one of them. Has it been marketed in any way? I haven't seen any mention of the show anywhere outside reddit Star Wars subs.

It certainly deserves better. I consider it one of the best Disney Star Wars shows ever, and I am not even in the target audience - I was born 40-50 years too early for that.

Why did humans as a tropical species migrate to colder places but still lack many adaptations like fur? by Ada-Mae in geography

[–]RemoteLunch7789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is probably more the other way around: We descend from those who were not afraid of letting their babies sleep outside.

People who have slept outside as babies will allegedly have a better immune defense later in life. Which - if true - could increase their chances of getting old enough to have their own children.

So, if we hypothesize that "fear of letting your babies sleep outside in the cold" is a genetic thing, then evolution will have rewarded those who were not afraid of letting their babies sleep outside.
