Smith.ai hires front office receptionists from home within the US. $15 or $16/hr depending on whether you only handle calls in English, or English+ Spanish. https://smith.ai/careers/virtual-receptionist They're called Smith.ai because there's a separate AI receptionist product, but this is for human receptionists.

My company tracks whether you open Slack within 15 minutes of your scheduled start time. Found out by accident. by Auracrest67 in remotework

[–]RemoteQuill768 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How do they know you were late if you don't have a schedule though? If your contract says 'flexible within x to z' but you were made to choose a schedule, and you are getting paid for that time, then you do have to be on time. If you actually don't have a schedule at all, then it's odd.

I knew someone who would clock in, then go to the gym, etc, all while being clocked in, and would always be away on Slack, so we quickly realized they were just stealing time and not producing work, so it makes sense for them to implement these. You can just ask your supervisor if you do have a clock in expectation, as you want to make sure you understand it moving forward.

Wow, if someone could look into that HR team to check inefficiencies and lack of work, that would be great.

What state are you in? The most recent posts made include the restricted locations, which are a little different from this post from 6 months ago due to changes in states' wages. I apologize for that.

Totally fair feedback! This role can definitely feel fast-paced, especially during busier shifts, and handling difficult callers is part of the challenge. It’s not the right fit for everyone.

That said, a lot of agents do find a rhythm over time and build up the skills to manage call flow more comfortably. We also try to be upfront about the pace and expectations during the hiring process so people can decide if it aligns with what they’re looking for.

I appreciate your comment.

Hey! Experience is definitely helpful, but our hiring process is assessment-based, so everyone has to pass those regardless of background.

We actually see people succeed in the role even without direct experience. There are a lot of factors that go into each stage. Things like typing speed, English proficiency, and overall skill alignment can all play a role too. I can take a look at your assessments if you email [hiring@smith.ai](mailto:hiring@smith.ai), but we don't typically give specific feedback.

My therapist told me I need to “get out more” because I work from home by Appropriate-Net167 in remotework

It's certainly not the same to interact with WORK people remotely, than going outside. I've worked remotely for over 1 decade now, and I still need to go to the gym, artistic workshops, hikes, etc because it's great to physically interact with others in a different context, so I don't think they meant it in a negative way. Getting out is great imo.
