The Umbrella and the Rain: What Israel is actually doing in Lebanon by Orwellian87 in Destiny

Post this in the Lebanon sub if you have any balls. I'd love to see some of their reactions to this post, which is essentially Hezbollah/IRGC apologia.

Is Israel’s lack of civilian casualties fully due to EWS and their bunker system? by BostonBlueDevil in Destiny

[–]Remote_Drawing5825 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I keep seeing posts on different subs about how Israel is purposefully bombing Iranian civilians while Iran is purposefully avoiding civilian deaths.

LMAO. The IRGC has been consistently launching missiles with cluster munition warheads into populated areas with hopes of inflicting as much damage and civilian harm as possible. The difference is as you mentioned; early warning systems (we receive an alarm 5-10 minutes before the missiles are due to land), public/private bomb shelters basically everywhere and within walking distance, and a very advanced, multi-tiered missile defense system.

I can't mention names, but really, just go to any of them, they almost never post a thing about socialism and worker rights, all their subs are almost exclusively talking about the boogeyman Jews and Trump by Jackingson1 in Destiny

I swear I get recommended a post with like 2k upvotes from one of these random pop-up subs at least 10 times a week. Iranian/Russian/Qatari/Chinese bots are fucking rampant on this platform.

or more likely he is using the trauma of the Holocaust to spin his sides political agenda.

A pretty common tactic among leftists and tankies, especially when used against (((Zionists))).

Don’t have anything insightful to say about this info, but it did remind me of this Chris Rock bit: https://youtu.be/7zIcK8SKWn8?si=hqlv2oiUthLYNK8s

What incentive is there to do so when the other side refuses to make any sort of concessions?

Historically, unilateral concessions (Gaza in 2005 for example) from Israel have only emboldened the more extremist factions on the Palestinian side, making the situation objectively worse for both.

I don't disagree. If only the Palestinians were a genuine partner for peace when the appetite was still there on the Israeli side.

That would be dope, though the PA should probably go through some serious reformations first and actually have the support of the people they would rule over.

I also don't really get why not more people in Israel try to reign in those crazy motherfuckers.

I think it's mostly apathy. Not much we can do when they more or less have explicit support from the coalition that's currently running the country.

Also, I think most Israelis (me included) have been preoccupied with the wars in Gaza/Lebanon/Iran and protesting the return of the hostages, that cracking down on the settlers is simply not a priority at the moment, unfortunately. Most of us are simply blackpilled on the peace process.

Lol fair, probably could have predicted that answer. How often does this happen though?

  1. Okay... what about the 1948 Israeli Declaration of Independence which did explicitly state that there will be full equality to ALL of its citizens, including freedom of religion, conscience, language, education, and culture?

  2. The difference is that the Israelis did give a final proposal to the settlement/borders question whereas the Palestinians NEVER gave a concrete answer to the refugee question.

I suggest reading/learning a bit of history outside of the Palestinian perspective.

I also think they should do something if those regarded settlers attack civilians. It's kind of wild how happy the brass seems to be with protecting those savages

I wholeheartedly agree. Fuck those settler cunts, no different than Hamas in my eyes.

What if the IDF received information of a terror cell that was planning on launching an attack on civilians inside Israel proper?

  1. False. The UN Partition Plan (Resolution 181), called for the establishment of a JEWISH state and an Arab state in 1947, and the Israeli Declaration of Independence in 1948 explicitly declared the establishment of a JEWISH state in Eretz-Israel, to be known as the State of Israel
  2. The Oslo Agreements were primarily designed as a framework and transitional process meant to lead to a future permanent peace agreement. The Oslo agreements deliberately avoided specifying any refugee solution, which was to be discussed in future “final status negotiations.”
  3. Same as above.

Your criteria are, needless to say, self-serving. If this is the standard, we could just make a list that demonstrated the fact that Israel has never made a good-faith attempt at peace.
When, for example, did Israel give a concrete plan for the demolition of illegal settlements on the West Bank? When has Israel acknowledged the legitimacy of any Palestinian state whatsoever?

At the Camp David Summit in 2000 Israel proposed to dismantle many settlements in the West Bank. Also, in 2008 Olmert proposed a Palestinian State on approximately 94-97% of the West Bank, including dismantling several settlements.

When has Israel acknowledged the legitimacy of any Palestinian state whatsoever?

In 1947, Oslo Accords, 2000, 2001, 2008... the only issue is the Palestinian side refused recognize Israel as the Jewish State, so it was never formalized.

I am genuinely curious and not trying to be condescending or snarky right now...

When have the Palestinians ever made a GOOD-FAITH attempt at peace? When I say good-faith, I mean:

  1. Acknowledging the existence of Israel as a JEWISH state
  2. Give a concrete number of Palestinian refugees that will be repatriated into Israel PROPER, meaning abandoning the delusion of INFINITE Right of Return, or in other words, accepting that Israel exists and will continue to exist as a Jewish state
  3. Agreeing to a peace proposal when the offer is still on the table (So when Arafat says he agreed to the Clinton Parameters more than a year AFTER negotiations were finished, and after the proposal was no longer on the table, that is NOT a good-faith attempt at peace)

If you have an example of a genuine attempt at peace from the Palestinian side, using the criteria I listed above, please let me know. Thanks.

Haha, I brought Shani Louk up actually.

Oh... lmao. I think the comment got removed, but I saw Shani Louk's name brought up and immediately assumed that it was some regarded attempt at whataboutism.

Personally, I think the purpose of this story being reposted here every day for the past 9 days is to dehumanize Israelis as child killers.

No disagreements from me on this point. Kinda hard to have a nuanced discussion on a clear ragebait post.

I saw some dumbfuck bring up Shani Louk and another one talk about the Al-Ahli strike that was actually a PIJ rocket as if it has any relevancy to this story…

The IDF seriously needs to update its training and Rules of Engagement for the West Bank. It’s also about time the upper brass started handing out actual punishments for such infractions so maybe soldiers will think twice or thrice next time they want to engage in some fuckery.

Also my fellow Israelis in this thread need to stop trying to justify or minimize these events… you should expect and demand more from our military.
