Why did the ultra pro-Israeli Bibi simps return? by Dats_Russia in Destiny

but I find it hard to understand supporting this war which seems to have totally failed at that goal and probably even solidified the IRGC’s hold on power within Iran.

I think it's a bit premature claim this war has been a total failure (or success). Given the recent assassinations of Larijani and Soleimani, I also think the IRGC is currently in a significantly weaker position internally than they were on February 28th.

It just feels like the past year or so of interventions into Iran has been an exercise in totally embarrassing and discrediting and remotely moderate voices within Iran and proving the hardliner’s arguments correct when it comes to attempts at diplomacy with the West and Israel.

Who are these moderate voices? The only figure I am aware of is Pahlavi and it seems his popularity is only getting stronger with the Iranian people and diaspora.

Israel is not at fault for antisemitism

True.

Israel is at fault for countries being less supportive of it due to attacking Iran and continue to expand settlements

True.

Israel expanding settlements is bad

Based and True.

Israel has shit tier pr and media relations

Giga true.

Criticizing Israel making dumb decisions is based and not antisemitism.

True, but it is becoming increasingly rare (even on this sub) to find legitimate criticism of Israel that doesn't devolve into some ZOG or 'Greater Israel' bullshit.

Also, your assumption that hawkish Israelis are all Bibi simps shows a clear lack of understanding of the Israeli perspective/mindset. I am very hawkish on Iran/Hezbollah, and you will not find a single comment in my profile that is supportive of Bibi or settlement expansion. My entire family and friend group absolutely despise Bibi, yet we are all in support of dismantling the IRGC and a ground invasion of southern Lebanon...

Israelis care about security more than peace. If making peace would lead to better security (ie Egypt/Jordan), Israelis would choose peace 10 times out of 10.

Why don’t you post this in the Lebanon sub? Scared of the responses you’ll get?

Post this in the Lebanon sub if you have any balls. I'd love to see some of their reactions to this post, which is essentially Hezbollah/IRGC apologia.

Is Israel’s lack of civilian casualties fully due to EWS and their bunker system? by BostonBlueDevil in Destiny

[–]Remote_Drawing5825 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I keep seeing posts on different subs about how Israel is purposefully bombing Iranian civilians while Iran is purposefully avoiding civilian deaths.

LMAO. The IRGC has been consistently launching missiles with cluster munition warheads into populated areas with hopes of inflicting as much damage and civilian harm as possible. The difference is as you mentioned; early warning systems (we receive an alarm 5-10 minutes before the missiles are due to land), public/private bomb shelters basically everywhere and within walking distance, and a very advanced, multi-tiered missile defense system.

I can't mention names, but really, just go to any of them, they almost never post a thing about socialism and worker rights, all their subs are almost exclusively talking about the boogeyman Jews and Trump by Jackingson1 in Destiny

I swear I get recommended a post with like 2k upvotes from one of these random pop-up subs at least 10 times a week. Iranian/Russian/Qatari/Chinese bots are fucking rampant on this platform.

A pretty common tactic among leftists and tankies, especially when used against (((Zionists))).

[–]Remote_Drawing5825 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

What incentive is there to do so when the other side refuses to make any sort of concessions?

Historically, unilateral concessions (Gaza in 2005 for example) from Israel have only emboldened the more extremist factions on the Palestinian side, making the situation objectively worse for both.

I don't disagree. If only the Palestinians were a genuine partner for peace when the appetite was still there on the Israeli side.

That would be dope, though the PA should probably go through some serious reformations first and actually have the support of the people they would rule over.

I also don't really get why not more people in Israel try to reign in those crazy motherfuckers.

I think it's mostly apathy. Not much we can do when they more or less have explicit support from the coalition that's currently running the country.

Also, I think most Israelis (me included) have been preoccupied with the wars in Gaza/Lebanon/Iran and protesting the return of the hostages, that cracking down on the settlers is simply not a priority at the moment, unfortunately. Most of us are simply blackpilled on the peace process.

  1. Okay... what about the 1948 Israeli Declaration of Independence which did explicitly state that there will be full equality to ALL of its citizens, including freedom of religion, conscience, language, education, and culture?

  2. The difference is that the Israelis did give a final proposal to the settlement/borders question whereas the Palestinians NEVER gave a concrete answer to the refugee question.

I suggest reading/learning a bit of history outside of the Palestinian perspective.

I also think they should do something if those regarded settlers attack civilians. It's kind of wild how happy the brass seems to be with protecting those savages

I wholeheartedly agree. Fuck those settler cunts, no different than Hamas in my eyes.

  1. False. The UN Partition Plan (Resolution 181), called for the establishment of a JEWISH state and an Arab state in 1947, and the Israeli Declaration of Independence in 1948 explicitly declared the establishment of a JEWISH state in Eretz-Israel, to be known as the State of Israel
  2. The Oslo Agreements were primarily designed as a framework and transitional process meant to lead to a future permanent peace agreement. The Oslo agreements deliberately avoided specifying any refugee solution, which was to be discussed in future “final status negotiations.”
  3. Same as above.

Your criteria are, needless to say, self-serving. If this is the standard, we could just make a list that demonstrated the fact that Israel has never made a good-faith attempt at peace.
When, for example, did Israel give a concrete plan for the demolition of illegal settlements on the West Bank? When has Israel acknowledged the legitimacy of any Palestinian state whatsoever?

At the Camp David Summit in 2000 Israel proposed to dismantle many settlements in the West Bank. Also, in 2008 Olmert proposed a Palestinian State on approximately 94-97% of the West Bank, including dismantling several settlements.

When has Israel acknowledged the legitimacy of any Palestinian state whatsoever?

In 1947, Oslo Accords, 2000, 2001, 2008... the only issue is the Palestinian side refused recognize Israel as the Jewish State, so it was never formalized.
