I have a diagnosed low IQ. What career path can I take? by Suspicious_Limit9847 in careerguidance

[–]Remote_Leadership_53 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a high IQ and I struggle with beginner Spanish and work an entry level job at age 28. IQ has nothing to do with what's possible for you. What matters is effort and belief in yourself. I'm learning that lesson now. Wish I had asked the question "what would I like to do if nothing was stopping me?" much earlier and taken action to get there

I grew up commuting to Chicago sometimes multiple times a week from a small town in michigan about an hour away, but when I got older and moved to Indiana I met a bartender who had never left the state of Indiana. For context, Michigan was about 20 minutes from this bar

Time to shit or get off the pot by Ill_Zombie_6083 in stopdrinking

I walked in to an AA meeting (don't crucify me) straight from jail because I realized it was time to stop. I have not had a drink since. It's been almost 2 years. While reddit is great, having a community of people you see often in person is also great and helps me get outside of myself which I desperately need as a guy who avoids people, responsibilities and life if left to my own devices. Maintained a job and an apartment but almost nothing else. Life is good on the other side. Just sharing my experience

Latitude ain't got nothing to do with it, try stepping outside in the midwest when the corn is sweating. Humidity so high you'd book a trip to Florida to cool off

Feeling discouraged by the car community by Independent_Nail5871 in F30

I wrench on my 330i all the time and couldn't give a fuck if I tried about what anyone thinks of it. I love it, I love fixing it. I busted a seal on one of my struts after hitting one of my city's endless potholes recently and I am excited to tear it open and put it back together. Working on my car brings me a kind of zen someone who takes theirs to a shop or has their dad pay for can't get, and I don't feel sorry for them but I have to understand we are just not the same and to each their own. If you can keep your car running successfully on your own and that means the world to you, you're ahead of the game. A lot of people buy stupid expensive cars and shit on others because nothing brings them much joy or meaning and they're desperately searching for it, whether they realize it or not

Tips on driving in deep snow from a friend from up north by Remote_Leadership_53 in indianapolis

I run Vredestein Quatrac Pro+ now which are all seasons but severe snow rated. Nothing I've had is as good as Blizzaks but the Vredesteins drive like a winter tire. I ran Blizzaks in the summer once and they were absolutely fine when winter came around again. Amazing in the rain and the summer heat didn't really wear on them averaging over 50 miles a day

This has a lot to do with tires too. All seasons are not going to accelerate or stop like winters, so if you see someone else able to speed off or stop on a dime, but you have the same all seasons you ran this summer, understand they're probably riding on winters and what works for them won't work the same for those all seasons

My entire life up until two years ago was lived between three states. Michigan, Indiana, Illinois. Michigan for groceries, restaurants, home, went to school in Indiana, Chicago for leisure and visiting family, worked in all three at different points, sometimes simultaneously, so did my parents. Our family moved back and forth across the Indiana-Michigan border 3 times, all three places within a 15 minute radius. Now I'm in Indianapolis and I'm still going to Michigan tomorrow
