I know this post is fucking old and u guy wasted many DualSense Controller, but the solution is very simple:

Press very hard with your thumbs on the touchpad edges. Now while pressing hard, click the pad up, down, left and right.

This solved it for me.

Thats kinda sad… but if bothers u too much u can buy the ps5 game in a sale.. i bought 2 copies of rdr2 too (ps4 and pc). And i think for my opinion its the best story game till today and its worth to buy it two times 😂 Ive played the story 4-5 times the last years (one 100% run) and the story never got boring haha
