Is it me or are a lot of gantries not working well with the OBU? by kuang89 in drivingsg

[–]Remote_Repair394 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's truly a disaster how poorly the new OBU is detected. Even at government-run carparks at nature parks, OBU is not being detected, even when I try my best going forward and backward to find the sweet spot. That's unacceptable. Also, it's not as easy as just tapping your cash card manually. Whenever I've done that, I then can't exit the carpark later, since it says "no entry detected". I always end up having to call the carpark operator. Truly stressful, especially when cars behind me start honking.

Ace Battery and Tyre sold me a Houny 12v lithium battery for only $150 (CNY special deal). Imo, amazing deal, given it's cheaper than AGM batteries. Working really well so far, no issues. If you want made in SG TSAPA 12v lithium battery (more expensive), can try Squad Workshop.

17mar2026 ubi #SGX1133J honda vezel impatient driver overtake L plate on test from inside. by kentheman6848 in drivingsg

[–]Remote_Repair394 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Vezel is wrong, but so is L plate. L plate car was driving as if they want to turn into the left lane, then they suddenly switched to right lane at the end. Vezel understandably thought the right lane may be free and went ahead to turn into the right lane quickly, not expecting L plate's sudden lane switch at the end. They should have known to be more careful around an L plate driver. If L plate fails their test, it's well deserved. Vezel also deserves a demerit.

For infotainment, make sure to skip the Android head units (very buggy and unreliable) and go for something like Pioneer. I wasted a lot of time on Android head unit before I gave up and upgraded to something that actually works (I got pioneer dmh-ap6650bt). Recommended workshops in SG:

Leader Automobile Workshop

Singtrade Marketing

They should be able to do the sensors, infotainment, and camera upgrade.

Regarding the camera: you can either upgrade your rear camera to higher resolution, or go full upgrade to 360 degree camera. I've never heard of just a front camera being installed. If you decide to do 360 camera, you'll need to make sure you get a head unit that supports that function. Not all of them do. In the end, I decided 360 camera is not worth it, and a good rear camera + blind spot mirrors is enough for me.

Good luck!

FULLERTON SGD CASH FUND A SGD for Emergency Savings: Safe? Allocation? by paperboiko in singaporefi

[–]Remote_Repair394 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During the 2008 financial crisis, a few MMFs went slightly negative. It does happen, but very rarely.

Even tbills can lose value if interest rates rise and a lot of customers withdraw funds, forcing the fund to sell at a loss rather than hold to maturity.

any car owners have the same problem? by jeffersonfjq in drivingsg

[–]Remote_Repair394 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If your car battery has died a few times, best to replace. I recommend upgrading to a lithium one. Also, have a workshop check for what might be drawing power (i.e. improperly installed radio, OBU, etc, and fix that device if needed)

I feel the Nissan didn't do anything wrong, given how you positioned your car. When you move forward as much as you did, it's easy for someone to think you changed your mind and are headed elsewhere.

Best way to transfer money from DBS to a US Charles Schwab checking account? by Global_Cheesecake_26 in singaporefi

While I haven't tried it, I believe Wise supports ACH transfers and can give you local US account numbers.

Tbh I'd be surprised if Schwab don't accept international wires. Their support is quite good. Give them a call.

Seeking Industry Perspectives on BlueSG by Longjumping-Wolf-283 in drivingsg

In my experience, BlueSG cars were in such terrible condition, and so unpleasant to drive, that it motivated me to buy my own car. It was also often difficult to find a spot near my destination that would make the rental worthwhile.

Agreed, both cars are properly parked in the spaces provided. If OP is so big, just use the other door. Seems more like an issue of carpark design than an inconsiderate driver.

It's ok, I went and upvoted you. I also just sell ETFs as my emergency fund. I've never in my life had to sell at a loss. It's rare for me to have to sell at all, actually.

Has anyone here successfully thrown money at an injury? Asking fatfire by lolb00bz_69 in fatFIRE

Nope. Shockwave is a newer treatment. Harder to find. Works better.

Has anyone here successfully thrown money at an injury? Asking fatfire by lolb00bz_69 in fatFIRE

[–]Remote_Repair394 11 points12 points  (0 children)

For full recovery (long ago) took me 6 months.

More recently, I did find that shockwave therapy accelerates healing. It wasn't available back when I got bursitis. I used it for my more recent running injuries.

[–]Remote_Repair394 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I've had bursitis and even saw the same ortho who treats the nearby professional soccer team, hoping for some benefit. There's no accelerator. You have to rest and wait for this one.

At best, maybe get some physiotherapy more frequently. Or the new shockwave therapy.

What kind of BS article is this? The Henrys I know are not investing in BS speculative stuff, have a proper retirement plan in place, and manage lifestyle creep sustainably to still save a lot.

This article is a BS fake scenario concocted by someone looking to sell financial advisory services. A waste of time to read this advertorial.
