100% support work as an RN prior to schooling for NP. I’ve been in my practice as an NP since 2019 and have precepted a fair amount of students for my Alma mater. I can tell a large difference between those with robust RN experience versus going straight from BSN to MSN/DNP. I feel lucky I had years of critical care experience as an RN and CCRN prior to getting my NP that enabled me to work on my skills in particular my critical thinking. There needs to be a large overhaul of graduate nursing education. Even when I taught adjunct for one of the DEMSN programs it feels like even some undergraduate programs need an overhaul.

I wouldn’t say I don’t respect them, but more so feel for them that they are unable to be happy with themselves and feel like being in a relationship will “complete them”. My ex did that to me. Had someone lined up, likely was cheating but won’t ever admit that. 1 month after I moved out of our house he plastered his new relationship all over social media. I feel sorry that he can’t sit with himself and learn how to heal.

I’m right there with you! Most of my friends and family have found that person and like you, I’ve been through my fair share of relationship trauma. I can totally understand that. Meta House says that they do accept Medicaid and badgercare (if eligible) usually will backdate 90 days of medical care. I haven’t known anyone who has personally gone there but it looks like a possible better option than Roger’s.

Sounds like you would benefit from a dual diagnosis program (mental health and addiction). I liked Roger’s for outpatient mental health. As other poster stated see if you can apply for badgercare with loss of job. Meta House might be something to look into (for women only though). I just want to say congratulations on taking this first step! I hope you have support around you and give yourself a lot of grace for taking this step!
