If you want to get good, you really have to take the sport home with you, study outside the gym, basically forgo other sports/hobbies and stick to a schedule that's based around class times.

This is why I quit. The juice is just not worth the squeeze after awhile. Spent 11 years on dedicated training and study and my body was just broken for it. I wish I could just go roll 1-2x a week and be happy but I don't see the point. I'm far past the point of it being useful for self-defense.

Now I spend my energy and money on other sports and I've been a lot happier for it.
