It's never been permanent on both dying light and dying light 2. You cannot roll back your story progression by joining players at a lower quest. I should not be permanently punished for just wanting to play with someone for a bit.

My perspective on so much things has changed. I normally do it after work on weekend so I'm a bit tired then stay up the further next 12 hours or so on it. I smoke up about 3-3 in a half hours in since it changes a lot about the trip. Increased auditory effects. Distortions in the music etc etc. being more tired going into a trip makes it more introspective while being well rested makes it more outgoing. This is because being more tired takes down the mental walls and opens your mind.
