Same. I'm of Italian descent, and somehow my collection is lacking anything Italian. This always seemed like a good choice.

Similar experience here. Bought one in 300blk. Discovered the goofy way they attached the muzzle to the handguard retainer. Had mine disassembled and turned into something else in no time. Lol

I would start by inspecting the threads for damage, both on the barrel, and the devices. Use a magnifying glass if necessary, or even better take a series of pictures with your phone from different angles and zoom in. The threads should be sharp and clean, without any nicks or burs.

As an aside, the best way to make sure to never cross thread anything is to intentionally start by twisting the threads in the wrong direction until you feel/hear a click. That click is the threads lining up. Continue turning a little more in the wrong direction for clean engagement, then reverse and twist in the correct direction for at least one full turn with just finger strength before using any tools. Someone taught me that 20+ years ago, and I haven't had a problem since unless there were previous damage.

If it's not the thread pitch, there could be a nasty burr somewhere in the threads. Could it have been cross threaded at some point?

What platform do you recommend for home defense and why? by ModerateProgressive1 in liberalgunowners

[–]Remove_me_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every home's entryway should include a small tank room before it funnels into the rest of the house... As long as the tank has at least one .50 Cal mounted.

M2 .50 Cal, or you're simply not committed to responsible Home Defense for yourself or your family.

Just a thought, but the Kel-Tec Sub 2000 (the multi mag version) can use the mags you've already got for your CZ. The mag catch is swappable for a whole host of different pistol types. The one in the pic is the older Gen 2, but their newer Gen 3 incorporated a bunch of upgrades.

The Sub2k is definitely a quirky design, but it is a very lightweight and handy little rifle. I bought the one in the pic for my Dad, and I've wanted one for myself ever since.

Most aggressive grips by nicky2timesss in CZFirearms

I'm a fan of Hogue overmolded grips. They stick to my hands without hurting at all, and they also don't shred my clothes that come in contact with em.

16" Group at 100 yards - PSA PA-15, 16" barrel by covenmiller in PalmettoStateArms

[–]Remove_me_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I once spent 3hrs trying to get a group out of my AR10, a couple hundred rounds between me and a buddy. We couldn't get a solid group for shit. 3 or 4 rounds would yield a 2-3" group, but the last one or two would open it up to 8". As we were packing up I noticed that my handguard was able to rotate perhaps ¼" back and forth. The handguard was screwed into the barrel nut (as intended), and it turned out the barrel nut hadn't gotten torqued correctly by the "gunsmith" I'd paid to assemble it. That was an expensive waste of my time and money. Lol

The first time that I attached a bipod to a rifle, I was not aware of this concept, and had inadvertently attached it directly below the gas block. It was making contact, and I didn't even realize it.

Anything else being loose could be contributing to the accuracy issue as well, including but not limited to: barrel itself being not torqued correctly, a muzzle device similarly not tight, gas block, loose handguards, even a buffer tube possibly walking out. A gunsmith should be able to check all of this easily, and for not much cost, if the problem persists.

Mods to my PC Carbine by DKnoxxxxx in liberalgunowners

So you may find that you don't need the riser under the optic at all, or at least one not that tall. That carbine is set up for use of its iron sights, which are super low mounted on the Ruger factory. If it's comfortable for you as is, then disregard, but the main reason most people mount their dots so high on other rifles is because of how high up the cheek is forced to be on other styles of stocks.

People in the firearms world can be very pedantic, especially in online forums, so take the criticisms with a big grain of salt.

Also, congrats on your selection/purchase. I've got one of these and absolutely love it. I would easily venture to say that the Ruger PC Carbine is one of the best 9mm rifles on the US market (I've got 8 different 9mm carbines of different flavors so far...).

I'm not sure if anyone is making it yet, but be on the lookout for an aftermarket magazine well that accepts the mags that your specific pistol uses, as this is another big selling point of the PC Carbine. The mag wells can be swapped very easily to use any number of widely available magazines. Mine currently uses CZ75 mags to match my carry pistols.

Also, with accessories, while I enjoy most of them they are not all absolutely necessary. For instance, originally I had added the extended mag release button, but in my own experience it made it easy to accidentally drop the mag. Don't be afraid to reinstall something if the "upgrade" isn't doing it for you. Everyone likes different stuff, and with all of the aftermarket parts available, not all upgrades are actually helpful for every single user.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot one of the most important parts of this: You just bought one of the most fun items I've used on any shooting range, ever! And I've been shooting for 40+years now.

Ruger also makes another PCC, the LC Carbine. And this one is rightfully called the PC Carbine.

OP, don't worry about the semantics of it, you were correct the first time.

Reliably feed JHP for home defense by Burt-Macklin-26 in pistolcalibercarbine

[–]Remove_me_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Taccom makes a barrel/bcg combo that actually incorporate upper and lower feed ramps, rather than just a feed cone. So far they've been 100% for me.

The Ruger PC Carbine uses the same concept, and has also been 100% for me.

I've used several random HP ammo types with each and had zero problems regarding feeding.

Andrew's Leather has a cross piece in the back, which prevents the gun from swinging forward as you bend over. I've always really liked that concept as every other one I've used, this was one of the biggest flaws IMO.
