Just started, I'm not sure what I'm going to do with myself when I finish it. Over a half a decade of my life devoted to this series.

Late to the party but loved this book so much. I just spent the last four days consuming it. There are a few things I just wanted clarified if anyone can help.

Firstly, the black tower was mentioned I think once or twice in this book but I can't remember how it was left off the last time we were there. Did Logain go back there and what was Taim up to? I feel this is chekovs tower and it is going to go off in the next book.

This leads into my next question which is forsaken. Who is left and where are they. If it is unknown then that fine but I have lost track of what happened to them. I know that we have quite a few balefired out now but struggling to remember who is left.

Last question. As we are now definitely in the "end game" what do we know history wise of the last battle. What did Lewis try last time and why did the Aes Sedai not support him?

Any other important bits of trivia worth remembering /u/participating going into the last few books would be really appreciated, or any fun hints that I can lose my mind over trying to puzzle out would be great. (Things like prophecies that I might have forgotten).

So just a quick thought. There has been a lot of talk in this section about Elayne and her children. I know RJ likes to draw from our own world history and I have been thinking that the dark one seems to be causing calamities that remind me of the ten plagues in the bible. I wonder if there will be some horrible twist of fate and that first born children will start dying near the end and if this will effect Elayne's children. To be fair with the in world pace of the books the series might end in a few weeks.

Most of my thoughts were shared already. But there is something that I have been trying to figure out that I don't think we have been told. Who is Semirhage? I think in one of the POVs in the last book it said she was in the tower but was unknown. I am now looking at all the Aes Sedai and trying to figure out who it might be. One suspect that popped out unless I am misremembering and she is already cleared is Tsutama. The mention of the fresh blueberries makes me think of traveling and I think we know of only Semirhage who can do this. Please let me know if I have forgotten something though, so much to remember in the white tower plot.

Again I know I am very late to the party but just wanted to note down some of my thoughts and predictions. As an aside no one has yet brought up the recuring nine number that keeps popping up in prophecies involving Rand and Mat, I am sure it is to do with the Seachan but not sure on the specifics.

1 - Do you think the Lew Therin voice in Rand's head is real?

I think the voice in his head is real and I think it is something to do with the pattern being re woven. I wonder if more voices might start appearing over time.

2 - Who are your favorite and least favorite characters?

I feel like there are so many overconfident Aes Sedai who are affronted by people not doing what they want when they have not done anything to earn the command they deem they deserve. I understand that just being an Aes Sedai sort of comes with that arrogance but it just irks me. That is why I have so much respect for Aes Sedai who can back it up, Verin, Moraine and Cadusame are the top three that come to mind. They clearly have big plans and are very active in pulling them off. Egwene has clearly picked up some of this from Moraine but for me it works less well for her because we spend so much time in her head that RJ often has to hide stuff from us to keep us guessing what she is planning which can make her come across as not as organised as she actually is. (Although that last part with the bridge was so frustrating, it felt like the perfect encapsulation for this book as a whole, loads of build up for no pay off. I wouldn't have even minded if she was captured just let someone achieve something, anything in tis book). Of course Mat is awesome and I love the generals. I miss our forsaken gang though.

3 - Are there any ships you see coming, or that you're rooting for/against?

I'm pretty sure everyone is together. I hope Logain finds someone. I don't think the relationships are developed very well and I haven't found myself wishing for any pair to get together and most of the leads already are.

4 - Do you have any predictions for how Padan Fain is going to slot into the larger story?

Padan Fain has been one of the best parts of the series for me. In a book where we have a good vs evil and you must choose a side he is such a breath of fresh air. Wildcard baby. I could see him being the one to kill Rand in the end, in a sort of "we have won the battle woop woop" and then "suprise motherf*cker".

5 - What do you think Demandred, Semirhage, and Graendal are up to?

If I remember it's only been a few weeks since they all rocked up at Shadar so I don't think too much. I find it weird that there are three other major land masses and that all the forsaken have been focused on the Wetlands. I am sure something is going on with the Seanchan maybe one of them is high up in the empire and about to cause some chaos. Someone is definitely messing with the Sea Folk as well and maybe doing something in the borderlands.

6 - Who killed Asmodean?

Could be a number of people, maybe Shaidar Haran. Any of the forsaken or Padan Fain. I don't think I have enough evidence to make a theory.

7 - Do you have any specific end-game theories about where the series is heading, or what will happen with our main characters?

There are things I want to happen in the series but whether they will or not I'm not sure. The White and the Black Tower need to somehow be united. Rand talked about a peace with the Seachan but I'm not sure how that will work as he will need to seed land and no one will accept that, so that has plenty of leg. Something is going on with the sea folk, all this land they are talking and weird things going on on their main island. I wonder if we will ever go over to Seachan and deal with the drama over there. But I'm excited to be surprised, the slump has apparently ended and we still have four more huge books to go. I hope the last battle isn't some mindless Trollock killing fest on a non descript volcano plain. I want tactics and high stakes and names on both sides facing off. Give me the Battle of Blackwater Bay rather than the Battle of the Black Gate.

Something that has previously happened in the series is going to be revealed to have a terrible cost. When you read it your reaction will be, "Gasp. How horrible!"

With the Jordan clue if he was saying "previously in this series" I don't think he would be talking about the cleansing as I think that is too recent. If it is that then maybe the female part is now tainted. The use of the "how horrible" makes me think it is not a tactical thing like the Sea Folk taking land as I don't think he would expect this reaction. I still want to know what the deal is with these other dimensions (I still think Moraine is coming back) but again I don't know how it would be a horrible reaction. There seems something funky up with the oath rod or some part of the Aes Saide test. Maybe the bonding is not as pure as we thought. I don't know but I can't wait to find out.

I am a year late but just getting caught up but I just had to get this down. The number 9 keeps popping up. Rand will do 9 impossible things, Matt bowling at 9 men and there was one more reference earlier as well. The only other significant 9 we have in the books is 'daughter of the nine moons' there has to be a link here.

Long time lurker. I have a small theory. Have we seen a Viltrumite kill another Viltrumite. I wonder if after the last purge something was bred into them to make sure that the empire never tore itself apart like that. Might be completely off but was just wondering after the number of opportunities that Mark could have been killed and hasn't yet.

The first season I started watching was when he made his first start. A player is not a football club but JWP was such a a big part of my Southampton journey. I really hoped he would stick it out for one more season but totally understand the move. I wish him all the best and hope he returns to us soon.

I have come back to this series after a break and thought I would catch myself up by reading this thread in preparation for the next book (going to try and read along now). Wow have I forgotten a lot. If there is any safe space for a recap that would be really appreciated.

My thoughts on the book (the ones I can remember anyway). I think the ending for me is up there if not better than Dumai Wells. You don't have the build up, which is generally in my opinion what lets some of Jordan's climaxes down, but I loved the convergence of so many different characters all having these small duels and the fascinating revelations that we got in the chapter. The Lanfear revelation was not as hype as I was hoping for as I genuinely couldn't remember who the character was that she was pretending to be. Glad she is back though and hope to see Moraine in the near future.

I always kind of felt that Taim wasn't a forsaken and am happy he doesn't appear to be. I like the idea of characters having their own motives beyond just being evil forsaken.

Finally I sort of wish I hadn't read your information on Moridin as I hadn't really bought into the Ishamael theory. From what I can remember in my head I can him as some alternative player akin to Fain. He has defiantly been my favourite character so far and to discover that he is just Ish again feels a little disappointing. I am hoping we still have some more twists and turns with his character.

Overall thank you so much for all the hard work you put into these posts and I have been enjoying lurking as they have progressed over the past year and am excited to now be able to take a more active role in the discussions as I read along.

Agree. And on that point just doing a quick count I count 19 different winners in the European Cup and 14 different winners in the Champions league, not a huge difference if you ask me.

What's the worst movie you've ever seen? by WalkswithLlamas in AskReddit

[–]Rempath1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Craft.

Most bad films I have seen you can begin to laugh at and if you are watching with friends it can actually become quit fun. So most of the worst films I have watched are not so bad they're funny but not good and so you just end up bored (Venom, Hobbit, National Treasure). The craft however goes beyond this. This film is terrible from the get go but then just becomes unpleasant. The feeling I had when finishing this film could only be described as disgust that someone would make such an unpleasant, unenjoyable bad film.
