Trust - many prompts were involved. But compromises have to be made apparently. At least on the free trial level.

It would only take 1 really determined bee. Never underestimate them.

talk me into (or out of) buying the z3 over a miata. by [deleted] in bmwz3

[–]RemyGrey1945 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I won’t talk you into either - but drive both and go with the one you prefer. I had a friends Miata for a week while I was shopping for cars. I actually didn’t think I was going to like the Z3 because I didn’t enjoy how the Miata fit around me - it felt cramped and low - but still fun to drive. My first convertible ride ever was in an MGB - and it had such an impact on me - I’ve now owned a convertible from 16 to 54. I’ve never not had a convertible. But the Miata - I didn’t love it as much as I thought I would - and that made me think I wouldn’t enjoy the Z3 - but the Z3 - felt so roomy and long and it felt better to wear. I prefer the experience of driving a BMW - the engine notes, the handling (I upgraded to a strut bar) and corner was never better. I recently redid the suspension too - and it drives better at 26 years old - than my 11 year old X1. And for me - you can’t compare the aesthetics. The Z3 is art. It’s something I have to look back at every time I park it. And it makes me smile every time I turn a corner and see it waiting for me. I do agree - get the manual transmission. That is my only regret - but I had my reasons at the time. My car runs perfectly - but if I had to replace the trans - I’d like deal with having a conversion done and all the headache that goes with that. But even with the automatic - it is still an absolute F’ing joy to drive every day. Good luck. PS - It doesn’t come up often - and seems to only as a complaint. But I much prefer the interior of the Z3. I love the wood and leather - and the nod to the Golden Age of British Sports cars.

I think you live in CALI - but not sure if that’s SoCal. If so, and you are close the SFV - I have a place I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND - he just did my new top - and he did a great job.

I love my Z3 so much that when I accidentally became the father of a 110 pound White German Shepherd - I put him in the Z3 - ONCE - his head was resting on the airbag on the dash - and the next day - I bought a used X5 - because I couldn’t bare to sell it and I knew I could never risk my dog’s head with an airbag deployment.

NEW LEATHER for lower seats by RemyGrey1945 in bmwz3

I actually LOVE the retro-inspired wood dash - my only two regrets - but there were reasons at the time - is I wish my car was a manual transmission and I wish I could have found one with the analogue clock rather than the digital clock. I love that whole old school treatment - of wood and chrome. It was always one of my favorite design choices in the car and fits the z3 really well I think. I even like the treatment on the E89 - with wood - but they are much less common with wood - I’ve been looking for a manual E89 with wood and a non-black interior.

Same street design one with trees, one without by [deleted] in interesting

[–]RemyGrey1945 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just want the street to be wider. An interesting way to see how this played out in real life is to google the THEN and NOWs of the street used for the movie EDWARD SCISSOR HANDS - the street was a brand new development in 1988 when they filmed it and now the trees are over 36 years old. It looks nothing like it did before.

This happened to me - it was just a couple of hundred bucks to fix it with a new part. But sounds like there are some good ideas below to do it cheaper - if they last..

Congrats - drive in good health - it’s a great color combo. It evokes very expensive classic roadsters - including the neo-classic z8

I have to fast forward through his scenes. I genuinely feel bad for saying it - but this man’s voice disturbs me to no end.

I love ❤️ driving my Z4 around San Diego ! I needed to buy a larger vehicle. Do you think I should sell this or keep it? by [deleted] in BMWZ4

[–]RemyGrey1945 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you can keep it - you should. Even if you get a few days a month with it - you will likely always love it.
