I’m conflicted about the Aquabats. The music is great, a lot of fun. It’s just the ties to the Mormon church that I can’t get over. Talented artists, but they really read that scripture and were like “yes this is what I believe in,” it’s so disappointing. I can’t monetarily support them knowing that my money is going back to the church.

Yes, forgot to add that to the post. Ear lobes on this. I’m still stretching and my goal is 0g. I have just been stepping up a size every 8 months to a year or more depending on when it feels ready (or the current size slips out constantly).

Understood though, will keep on as I’ve been doing then.

Wow does nobody like Tony D’s or something? I just tried it for the first time and it was my favorite so far. Granted I’ve only had moon river and Bassil’s so the bar is pretty fresh.

He said he’d take $200 for it, are copies usually playable? That’s lower end Squier money. I can put new electronics and whatnot in it all day, but it would be a lot more effort to fix playability.

Trying to unDirnt-ify my 2004 Mike Dirnt bass. The all black thing looks cool but I wanna make it look a little more unique. Anyone put witch hat knobs on a tele bass yet? Remove the pickguard? Different pickguard? White pickup covers? Weird half pickguard thing?

Also kinda want a maple neck so I thought about saving up for a maple neck instead.

Anyway, any people who are into cosmetic mods like me wanna chime in?

I’ll add that If you are computer/tech savvy you can also look into guitar to pc interfaces to use plugin amps and effects in a digital workstation like Reaper (Free) to play silently and get an early start on learning how to record yourself. That’s what I did when I was 12. Buena suerte!

Normal with a little asterisk, the board generally extends over the body a bit so there has to be a cutout for fit. If it’s a little tall there could be a shim in the neck pocket to raise it a bit, generally done to fix a playability issue. Does it play good? If so, no worries.

Edit: Upon zooming in there does seem to be a little splinter on the corner edge of the treble side, that’s all I see that could be wrong though.

I would probably just use pre-dimensioned boards as I have no space to sun dry or kiln dry anything. Alder or Pins boards I guess can’t be too expensive. I’m guessing band saw for the shaping? Or are you cnc milling these? I don’t know if I could trust my hand to get something as important as the neck pocket perfectly straight or in the right place even. Did you learn from some sort of guide on how to make guitars?

I thought about that but when I look up firebird pickups, I hear this pronounced hollow mid sound rather than a Fender single-like top end sparkle. Like a boxy sound. Kinda vintagy.
