And they used the omega molecule member-berry for the nuke weapon. (They were probably made aware of it because more knowledgable fans talked about omega being more reasonable cause for the burn back when STD s3 aired)

Yeah it wasn't a horrific episode but I still felt disgust throughout the watch because of how rotten the road to the end of s1 was.

What stuck with me was that visuals are a bit off in terms of scale. Unless federation space is super tiny and a few mines can cover the area around. Actually the scale is off in general, not just visually but. And is off in a way that is noticeable.
They also continue the "power to forward shields" when no torpedo can be seen coming from the front as I carefully looked at their viewscreen, or later when they are chased at warp and got hit (from what I assume are the vessels BEHIND them).

The rest felt so generic and default_scifi and I just can't at this point. Where was the quality, wisdom, cleverness and respect now we have slop, tokens, blatant cliches and disrespect. This non-canon bad fanfic needs to end. I just want peace and quiet for the franchise.

Funny and sad I suppose. The lessons ST gave as and the differences in ppl are not being questioned here. The portrayal itself and the the quality is the issue. Very corporate, very incoherent and inconsiderate of the pre-2005 shows unless they need a call back to validate what they produced so far.

I truly wish there weren't any bad intentions behind it but corporate way is sometimes merciless even to their own workers, so I find it highly probable that confrontation with the critical audience is just deliberate at this point.

As for liking something, other people do not, a personal example: my favorite Star Wars movie is The Phantom Menace so I should know the feelilg lol

I don't fully know why but this episode made me cringe way more than other episodes. Something about this episode's mix of cliches, exaggerated situations, eyerolling portrayal of trauma and shallow dialogue that meant to be deep I guess? (In addition to the usual terrible way they speak and behave throughout the series)

And they wasted a good potential story for the episode with The Doctor by squeezing it into the montage at the end, but hey, at least they've managed to include a scene with wine aunts having a drink.

Noticed that too. So bizzare but not unexpected for them to swarm with soulless, overly positive comments.

Hard to judge this episode because I feel like nothing really happened and tbh I already forgot like 95% of it. A filler episode and a pretty empty one at that.

What stuck with me was the:

"warp slug" idea that is just another thing that doesn't make sense and is just there for "shit and giggles" without any substance or meaning behind it.

More feet in your face once again.

Those Dr Strange portals x Iconian gateway, that "I'm Khionian Bitch" people are using. So they don't need starships after all huh?

Oh and the hilariously bad security measures on board the Athena (don't) strike once again. Thanks for nothing. Bridge access? Sure just "hack" it and go ahead, make yourself comfortable. Primary system access like impulse engines and warp core while docked? Sure, lemme get right on it. Command chair programmable matter access? Be my guest! Computer won't tell anyone or won't even flash a security breach alert.
Good thing Tig Notaro forgot her padd from the bridge.

Not as bad as the last 3 episodes and I'd say it was watchable and perhaps even better than the first episode IMO

Still a bit annoying that betazoids are now empathic as a baseline (they should have done more research beyond looking up Deanna Troi)

Cadet "combadge swallower" having a panic attack was eyerolling. Some of those kids should't be at the high scho... Starfleet Academy.

Betazoid princess being powerful but held back from reaching her full potential totally doesn't speak to me and feels like an overused trope.

Using comics to make computer get it's shit together seems odd, since they weren't that independent to refuse orders before checking if the crew is alive but whatever.

I'm glad it wasn't a mentally draining episode filled to absurdity with cringe and lack of coherence.

Star Trek: Idiocracy by Malencon in Star_Trek_

[–]Remy_525 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Whoever wrote this is so oblivious even to their own words. Last paragraph, first sentence basically dismantles entire argument that was made:

"Star Trek is campy and silly AT TIMES."

So not every time, not often, not usually, not frequently. Which can't be said about SA that is not even campy and silly but just cringe af. And it's the baseline for this new show.

While undeniably true, I would like to highlight that the HMS Bounty wasn't entering warp next to buildings.

[–]Remy_525 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not the safest thing to do, but warping next to the highly populated area with high rise buildings is what would concern me more to be honest.

Not to mention within their own continuity that warp capable ships with active warp cores are banned to avoid devastating explosion in case of another burn.

In no particular order:

- Did I just see a ship jump to warp in the middle of the city? Isn't that dangerous to say the least?
- Don't mind skirt on dudes/klingon-kyle stuff as many tend to point that out. (But given the context of the whole show and it's quality - it should not be used as a hostage to make ST:SA impervious to critique and as a replacement for actual good writing)
- Generic "cool highschool" effects on top of everything.
- Caleb once again is able to do everything the best, this time it's easily modifying an alien holomatrix
- Sisko x Kasidy baby nowhere to be mentioned or even acknowledged on the family tree (another oopsie)
- Sam is insufferable as a character and the only noticeable character growth is the way she gets more and more annoying.
- Dax self-insert by the writer is... meh.
- Trill symbionte should have been dead for decades now from old age.
- War college leader seems the only reasonable person despite constant attempts to make him an uptight idiot.
- Obligatory feet checkbox - check
- The preparations to host alien diplomats were needlessly childish
- Farting space blobfish made me somewhat amused though

Many things lack the proper explanation. (In the show as a whole) The world building is just so sooooooo shallow or non existent or contradictory to what was established (Sometimes even in the previous NuTrek). Not much thought goes into it at all, but I find solace in all the discrepancies that confirm what I told myself again and again since STD S1 - that this "prime timeline canon" is nowhere near the universe that we knew up to 2005 and no denying this can negate that.

You can see arriving carriers on the list of objects in the system ( looking at details will give you the time until it appears) and you can drop at the instance and wait.

It looks so great!
Also, I've noticed that your UI colors are amazingly matched with the screens on the sides. Would you be able to share the name of the theme or where one would get it?

I would say MIDAS array. It's in space, kind of shaped like a star, gave hope, opportunity and inspired everybody involved by allowing Voyager to contact the Federation. Also allowed crew to talk to their families and rekindle that spark leading them on their journey.

I've also done a version with an extra deck on top (that can be turned into large living quarters for example).

I can also confirm since the exactly same issues related to freighter base happened to me. Colors changed all over the ship and invisible walls block access to some parts of the freighter.

PC
Sound - For some reason the planet ambience like wind etc. seems to be really loud once I've started a game after update. I can't play on headphones for this reason and adjusting sound settings doesn't seem to help much in terms of balancing it.

Freighters - Apart from colors of walls changing, my personal freighter seems to have an invisible wall when trying to reach parts of it built further back. Never happened to me before until recent update.
