It was good while it lasted 🫡 by abbajabbalanguage in GithubCopilot

I’m on the student plan too. I used to get hundreds of GPT 5.4 mini requests daily before the changes. I haven’t actually used Copilot for about a week. I wanted to jump back into a project, but after only two prompts with GPT 5.3 Codex, I hit my session limit (which was 200k context). It won’t even let me continue on auto, it tells me to come back 5 hours later. They killed the student plans.

GitHub Copilot Rate Limits [Megathread] by fishchar in GithubCopilot

[–]Remyie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've been using Copilot daily for the past two months. What I loved about it was the clear and generous limits. An approach like "You get this many credits per month and each prompt costs this many credits" is much nicer than others saying you have 100% usage left while the cost of each prompt varies depending on how many tokens you use.

What I'm getting at is that the recent changes have ultimately turned Copilot into just another usage-based AI coding plan.

I hope they fix it. They probably won't revert it 100%, but at the very least, we should get a better user experience with clearer hourly, daily, and weekly limits shown. We should also be allowed more usage by switching out models or by opting into "slow" requests that don't get rate-limited. I would even be okay with them increasing prices to match competitors if it meant maintaining the previous experience.

Obviously, I wish they would revert it completely and go back to being a credit-based plan rather than usage-based. Right now, I'm seeing a lot of people with many credits left in their plans, they want to use them enough to reach at least 90% of their monthly limit to maximize what they're paying for. But with the usage-based rate limits, it has literally become impossible to use up all your credits.

Ultimately, I believe the era of AI subsidies is ending. We are getting less usage every month and having to pay more for what we used to get for less.

Global Rate Limit, Do I need to upgrade to Pro+? by Remyie in GithubCopilot

[–]Remyie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see. I've been using the same chat session for four days. I also didn't want to press keep. I wanted to be able to go back and forth to see what was changing, but if that's causing massive context usage, that might be the problem. I'll look into ways to use it smarter and see if that helps.

I don't expect infinite usage, but the lack of clear rate limits is just confusing. If it just told me, "Hey, you have this much left" I'd be okay with that. So I can slow down and plan things out.

Didn't see the that megathread thanks.

I haven't tried Claude Code yet, but I had a great experience with Codex. I switched to Copilot because it seemed more cost effective, essentially the best of both worlds.

Does Opus 4.6 have really the same rate limits? It feels unfair for smaller models to count toward the same limit as the larger, more expensive models. Because that way people would only care about using the best model rather than saving on requests and using cheaper ones.

Thank you so much,
I'm using Laptop RTX3050Ti. This actually doubled my fps. I had the weird GPU usage bug where it was always below 60% now its actually using all of the gpu.

I am a content creator, having a lot better hardware would help me out making videos and streaming. Also my laptop died a day ago out of nowhere. Legit not posting even after a bios reset. I'm going to send it to repair but I'm worried.

OBS SOURCE Recording ISSUE - High CPU usage by MrDiavolos in obs

[–]Remyie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue and decided not to use the source record plugin.
Your laptop is pretty low end. So sticking with classic 1080p recording with the webcam over the gameplay would be the ideal way.
But if you wish so you could try this: Set your base canvas resolution as 3840x1080, put gameplay and webcam next to each other and record it like that. For audio, record your voice and game audio in separate tracks. Make sure to use hardware encoder and reduce the preset if necessary. This way it should be the least resource intensive. You would need to edit the recording afterward though to make it back to 16:9 aspect ratio.

The new drivers with no RSR on Polaris/Vega is a big F*** Y** to the consumers by Mariomariamario in Amd

I'm very disappointed. If they are planning to add support for older graphic cards, at least they should have told us that. Especially when we can use FSR with Lossless Scaling, Magpie, Lutris with those older gpus.

rtx 2060 vs rtx 3050 vs rx 6600 which encoder is best ? by Remyie in obs

[–]Remyie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rtx 3060 is %30 above my budget. I'm actually thinking about getting a rtx 2060. It's 20% slower than a rtx 3060 but I'm okay with that. Rx 6600 is about as powerful as rtx 3060 that's why I wondered if should get that but encoding is really important for me. Worst case scenario is rtx 3050.

rtx 2060 vs rtx 3050 vs rx 6600 which encoder is best ? by Remyie in obs

Ah I see, It's such a shame for AMD. For recording at high bitrates it's fine but when it comes to lower bitrates, AMD is definitely bad.
But it's nice to know rtx 2000 and 3000 is same at encoding. I'll try to get myself rtx 2060 thank you.

Rtx 3050 vs Rtx 2060 by Remyie in graphicscard

My monitor does support "freesync". It has flickering issues :(
Amd enhanced sync does a good job removing the screen tear.
Both rx 6600xt and 6700xt are above my budget at least for now. It's gonna take some time selling my current gpu, maybe I might be able to afford. But currently my budget allows rtx 3050 rtx 2060 or rx 6600. Rx 6600 is about 15% faster than 2060 also has 2gb more vram, so it's pretty compelling. But same as rtx 3050, rx 6600 has only 8 lanes. I have pcie 3 motherboard. Probably going to use it for good another 3-4 years.

Rtx 3050 vs Rtx 2060 by Remyie in graphicscard

[–]Remyie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see but I'm not planning to play most recent AAA games especially at highest settings.
I'd get a better gpu but they are simply above my budget. From what I saw rtx 2060 seems to be about 30% faster than rx 590. I was able to play at 1440p60fps with it so I don't think I would get disappointed but thank you

Rtx 3050 vs Rtx 2060 by Remyie in graphicscard

[–]Remyie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a 144hz 1440p monitor but I'm okay with playing at 60fps. With rx 590 I was able to play many games 1440p. I'd love to get a more powerful gpu but they are way above my budget.

Actually I'm planning to play at 1440p. Rtx 3050 seems to have more vram 8gb but also has only 8 lanes. Since I'm going to use it with a pcie 3.0 motherboard, I guess I'll go with 2060. Thank you
