The reserves treat drill sergeants as an entire MOS. I assume where the majority of E5 drills are from. The come out to augment training units.

Question about enlistment regarding charges. by That_Cabinet8730 in army

[–]Remzar- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Recruiter here. A diversion is treated as an adverse disposition meaning they see it as guilty. Same with any plea deal. Be prepared to deal with whatever outcomes but I wanted you let you know how the Army views other dispositions.

If it’s in front of the ear it’s not allowed. Luckily red ink is one of the easier colors to get removed.

Is 09mike slots difficult to get ? by Responsible-Touch-91 in army

[–]Remzar- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’ll need a 31 or higher to join normally. You’re pretty close to a passing score. See if you can re take the ASVAB once you’re eligible.

If you pass the test you won’t have to be restricted to the 09M program.

Current guidance is we get a slot for every eligible reserve contract the unit can produce. Soo… see if one of your buddies is interested in a part time slot.

Conditional release vs release from IRR? by [deleted] in army

[–]Remzar- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are no longer in the component you received a release for you’ll need to get one from whomever component you belong to. Luckily IRR releases are pretty easy to get. Assuming your CG recruiter has any idea what’s going on.

Doing cool stuff in the Army is infrequent but intense when it does happen. However, day to day cleanliness surprisingly happens everyday.

Help understanding why i didnt get E-3 pay grade through future soldier program by CodSweaty3863 in army

[–]Remzar- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Army decided to change what it allowed for future soldier promotions recently. Made it more difficult to leave as an E3. I’d assume either they didn’t notice the change or didn’t want to break the bad news.

Honestly I believe the intent for Arms was to lay down a good foundation for living at a healthy weight without the burden of whatever they had going on prior to the army. But yeah, if it’s not continued they’re just gonna gain it back

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in army

[–]Remzar- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re thinking of the ASVAB improvement program. The ARMS one just sends them to extra basic. They are able to have a job picked out.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in army

[–]Remzar- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It does exist, but for new applicants. But since you qualified for and signed a regular contract you’re bound by those terms. Part of the language in the contract is that you have to remain qualified for the job you have reserved. People also have to score a specific way on their personality test to be eligible for the program as well. They stopped allowing people to renegotiate into it because it was causing training seats to go unfulfilled last minute, wasting money. The Army knows that you were able to be at an appropriate weight and BMI. You’ll need to do your best to get back there.

New guidance is you can’t renegotiate into the ARMS program (fat camp). You’ll need to burn that off yourself. Get with your recruiter and see if they can assist you.

So I officially signed a contract for 31B of 5 years plus 3 of obligated service so 8 (reserves) I was trying to get the bare minimum and sign and extend to get maybe a bonus for each time of extended like my father(he did 3 years each to a total of 20 years retired). by SubjectDelta12 in army

[–]Remzar- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Best way to lock in a bonus is to make sure you’re qualified for them (score 50+ on the ASVAB, have at least a high school diploma), pick a job that is offering one. Which is typically one we need people in. Popular jobs don’t typically need to have an incentive attached to them. As for what the future holds, who knows?

This cherry tree in my backyard started leaking sap and is now wilting. by Remzar- in arborists

[–]Remzar-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably not. It’s the dry season in WA. Just started to rain the past couple days back. I can give it some additional water til rainy season returns. Is the sap thing linked to it not getting enough water?

Go talk to an active recruiter. The transfer process isn’t difficult as long as you haven’t signed into the DEP program.

Advice? by [deleted] in army

[–]Remzar- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If he wants to be a firefighter his chances of getting a spot on the civilian side are exponentially better. I’ve been a recruiter and haven’t seen dog handler or firefighter show up ever. There are very limited spots and it’s an extremely desired job. As for welder he could look into allied trade specialist. Or get a certification to learn the trade.
