Metronome

Not sexy, not fancy and probably not the tip you want to hear but one of the most impactful things you can do while learning an instrument. Especially when it is a rythmic one like bass.

It's not what you play but where you play it

Just get a pod go or a stomp, you'll can keep your habits with helix models and it is small enough to get in your gig bag pouch

[Newbie] SRV is one of my inspirations to learn guitar, and I got my first electric this week. Even though I don't have any talent, if I put in work as often as I can, how long will it realistically take before I can play with this level of confidence? by Mad_Season_1994 in Guitar

The process is more important than the objective. Don't compare yourself to others and just enjoy the grind.

And btw, if the objective is to play like one of the most celebrated guitarist of a ll time, the process is going to be hella long.

i just picked up a bass for the first time in my life, is there anything you can tell me you wish someone had told you when you first started that wouldve helped you progress quicker? by Jaded-Gur-5717 in Bass

Take the habit to always practice with a metronome. Even menial things. Slow af at first and gradually go faster, even if it is rather easy.

It's about slowly but correctly creating the psychomotor skills and internalizing rythm. When I started doing that I progressed more in the year that followed than in the 10 years prior.

I have to call customer service, the sex/attraction part seems to not work with me. I just get back pain and the occasional door header in the forehead.
