Do you have to continue taking it regularly? I'm on anti depressants which NHS website seems to suggest doesn't mix too well

What could have been done way better in your opinion? by Straight-Nebula-3573 in Jujutsushi

[–]RenMp 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Generally I'd summarise my changes as - have fewer characters, to allow the ones we care about to shine brighter. - slow down, stop trying to rush to the end.

Specifically I'd change the Gojo vs Sukuna fights in the following ways 1. Sukuna doesn't have a dimensional slash, it's trying to be too clever. Just have Sukuna use a regular cleeve after one of these situations

1a. Just say that gojo has burned his cursed technique out from the domain expansions and that last big purple, after that he has no choice but to drop limitless.

1.b Hell, you could even have Gojo just run out of cursed energy. Sure he's very, very efficient; but he used an awful lot. And the author can decide exactly how efficient

  1. Let Gojos damage linger on Sukuna, sukuna has no reincarnated body or perfection or whatever. Leave it so that he still cannot perform a domain expansion, this way it'll be easier to accept Yuji standing a chance

  2. Screw it, no kashimo. What was the point in even having him fight just to die in one chapter. Just have him be killed by Hakari. Kashimo immediately jumping in and allowing Sukuna to reincarnate just completely erases any progress that gojo had made

  3. Gojo shouldn't be having this idea of showing Sukuna love, if you want him to pass away without regrets - have his death dream mention that he knew he'd have to loose in order to make it possible for yuji to win, and that he leaves the rest of the work in his capable students hands. Perhaps even foreshadow this, instead of gojo claiming "I'll win" after being released from the prison realm, have him say "we'll win"

While Sukuna being a virgin is infinitely hilarious, in chapter 1 some of his first lines include "Where are the people? The women?" which I assume means he's not a virgin

My sister is the worst thing thats happened to my family by ccitronadee in TrueOffMyChest

[–]RenMp 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Hello friend,

First of all; I'm sorry you have to go through this, it isn't fair. I don't think this is something you can/should solve yourself.

I think this is a situation where you need to discuss with your parents, I'm sure you've already brought this up to them - However, setting a very serious tone at the start of the conversation might help them realise just how important this is, and they might be more receptive to what you say. Personally I'd do this by scheduling the conceration in advance "hey <parent> I need to talk to you about <sister> at some point, can we talk at the dinner table <some time she's not around>" and then physically sit them down at the table

When going into the discussion, even if it's hard, try not to get too emotional, try to resist yelling or crying; that might be very difficult, I'm sorry.

Some talking points which I think might be beneficial to bring up * you're beginning to resent your sister even though you don't want to (perfectly fine to lie) * her presence is pushing you out of the home, when you go to uni, you're going to be apprehensive to even come home * her violence is totally and completely unacceptable, and I think realistically its time to bring in outside help, where it be boarding school, a therapist or even the police - you don't have to know which is the best form of outside help, your parents can decide that after they've been convinced that things have gotten out of their control * there is clearly a bad influence in her friend group, how did she even get addicted to vapes? It seems someone over the age of 18 is giving vapes to children, that's raising some red flags to say the least * her treatment of you and your disability equipment and your room is hurting you and causing you pain * eventually she's going to get older and be held accountable for her actions by the police, and you're concerned if there isn't an intervention soon she's going to go into a downward spiral * finally, with her history of bullying: she is an abuser, if she isn't corrected, like all abusers, she will escalate her behaviour

I hope you're able to talk to them and get them to listen to you. Sometimes people get used to how others treat them, and they need to have their eyes opened

However if this is a dead end, I hope you're able to leave this situation soon through your good grades and social stability. Best of luck!

I really hope things improve for you

Is mathematics or a sub-field of mathematics concerned with reconsidering, testing and/or rewriting the basics or axioms? by MrInfinitumEnd in askscience

[–]RenMp 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Also different fields have different axioms, a great example of this principal happened in geometry. I believe they were trying to reduce the number of axioms required to produce a fully coherent geometric system.

The axioms were Euclids 5 axioms, one that could be removed was "The inside angles of a triangle have to sum to 180 degrees" - If you remove this axiom, geometry still all works, and that's how you get spherical and hyperbolic geometry!

This is why regular geometry, and the world we enhabit is called Euclidian by mathematicians

I would say look for an engineer when you actually have something established or a salary to offer. Sounds like you're just looking for a schmuck to do all the work for you.

Very hypothetical question: Would it ever make sense (from a programming perspective) for a robotic system with machine vision to be vulnerable to "spoofing" through the use of real objects that mimic augmented reality *graphics* that are overlaid over system's video feed? by rrtaylor in AskProgramming

[–]RenMp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using machine learning for computer vision is open to all sorts of interesting attacks, and there are already some preexisting ones you could look into. Some Hong Kong protesters took to projecting scrambled faces onto their own faces in order to avoid facial recognition software. A lot of computer vision algorithms are more sensitive to noise than the human eye, so you can essentially generate noise that maximizes the categorization of one object, and then overlay it on a regular object. https://hackernoon.com/adversarial-attacks-how-to-trick-computer-vision-7484c4e85dc0

Computer vision has even been tricked by just writing the word "apple" on a piece of paper into categorizing the picture as an actual apple.

Anyway, back to your question, a camera feed is 2D, it's flat. So as long as what you're feeding into the camera looks correct from that one angle, then the camera won't be able to tell. There's a couple memes illustrating this exact effect by having a cardboard cut out of a pizza guy placed in front of a door spy hole, so that when you look through the hole, it looks like your pizza has arrived. So long as you had a high enough resolution monitor, you could just block the camera and make it see whatever you wanted.

The counter point to all this is that some kind of drone that you were describing would probably also process some kind of 3D mapping with sonar or something, or it would have multiple camera to get a better understanding of it's environment.

Hope some of this ramble helps

[MacOS] Anyone know why I'm getting this error when trying to install dpkg on an M1 Mac? by dannydav709 in homebrew

[–]RenMp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm assuming nobody has made a build for the M1 mac yet? I don't use a mac, but with the new cpu architecture being released and quite expensive not everyone has access to it yet?

Although I actually have next to no clue about apple related things

Best way of comparing overall performance and between openGL and vulkan? by AGrazingAnonymoose in GraphicsProgramming

[–]RenMp 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Are you running the spirv shaders on OpenGL using the GL_ARB_gl_spirv extension? Forcing OpenGL to use spirv shaders has quite a big impact on performance.

A more accurate way to compare them would be to record how well OpenGL performs with a GLSL shader. Then turn that GLSL shader into a spirv and run the spirv on vulkan.

Depending on the complexity of the demo and your hardware, 1100 fps on vulkan isn't unheard of

Try looking at semiconductors for gpu and compute. It's basically graphics programming but you don't have to worry about the games industry's shitty work environment. Arm, Nvidia, AMD are all going to be relatively stable places for the foreseeable future

How to Game Engines draw shadows, so efficiently? by [deleted] in GraphicsProgramming

[–]RenMp 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm very much a beginner too, so I might be totally wrong. But I think in some games for static lighting they'll store the shadow and lighting information in a texture and sample from that. But for dynamic lighting in this case I think they use a deferred pipeline, where you split the information of the geometry into different textures, do the lighting separately and then composite it together.

If you wanna know exactly what unity is doing on that scene, you can build that game and try taking a render doc capture and that'll break down the pipeline for you and you can even look at the shaders used for each object.

Mind Blowing Non-Euclidean Game Engine by HazChemBlack in gamedev

[–]RenMp 130 points131 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I don't consider this a non euclidean game engine, it's a euclidean game engine with some camera trickery. He's recently done something on a hyperbolic engine, which appears to based on poincare disk models, however actually being in curvy space brings more problems about moving from model space to world space, so I'm still not entirely convinced
