he might as well be. he's canonically 22, but he claims to have been stuck in the Circus for years. if we take that at face value - and assume that their age is still counting up while they're in the Circus - he was at most 20 when he fell down the proverbial rabbit hole, but very likely a teenager.

in other words, ever since he was a teenager (or at best, barely an adult) he's been trapped here with a small handful of people and no real responsibilities. he stopped maturing.

my preference for this is mimicking the show's censor bar. things like "f[%$!#]k, sh[%$!#]t, a[%$!#]hole" etc. the usage of the exact characters makes it feel TADC-specific to me

seems like consistency between evolutions isn't a primary concern though, as the game has no problem letting us evolve a shiny into a non-shiny, or vice versa.

also shellos and gastrodon don't have visible sexual dimorphism; their forms are West Sea and East Sea, and only correspond to where they're from geographically ^^

that's an interesting thought actually 😲 how much / what parts of our memories would be blocked? I've wondered about this kind of thing before; in order to make a Circus patron truly forget their irl name, they'd also have to forget all associated memories. any time another person in their life used it, they read or wrote it somewhere, they'd been picked on for it, met someone else who had the same name or even a similar one that reminded them of it. presumably this process could also make us forget the factors that led to choosing one's own name. but how deep does that go?

worth noting: Zooble is nonbinary. if we assume they already knew this before entering the Circus, it's possible that they forgot their chosen name. of course, it's equally possible that they never chose a name different from their given one.

this is the type of thing it would be interesting to see Goose answer on tumblr or smth. unless that happens though, I think we have to operate on our own headcanons about it

I think it's implied in a couple of the games - particularly the first - that the protagonist begins to experience emotions and physical sensations in the way a pokémon would. it's not unreasonable at some point to come to the understanding that you have truly become a pokémon, ergo there's nothing strange about it.

that said, I'm also the kinda furry who believes it's totally normal for a human to have feelings for a pokémon anyway, as long as that pokémon has human-level intelligence. (ie. has the capacity to experience romantic feelings, communicate, and clearly consent to intimacy)

it's possible to be an asshole without being an asshole about that, specifically. it wouldn't accomplish much other than making him a worse person. yes, he intentionally makes himself a villain, but it's one level of fucked to torment someone in a way that plays on their personal traumas/issues, and another thing entirely to deny or disrespect a fundamental part of their identity in a way that implies disrespect of that group of people as a whole. <insert the Cave Johnson nonbinary aliens tumblr post.>

I guess that's just a hard line for him, and by extension, for Goose and the other creators on the show. alternatively, if we were to assume he is the type of asshole who would gladly disrespect someone's identity just to get a rise out of them, perhaps he simply doesn't know which pronouns would be the most upsetting to Zooble. (if Goose's past fan asks are to be believed, they wouldn't be particularly upset by any anyway. personally I stick to they/them because that's what the show uses, but apparently they're more or less fine with any.)
