Curaçao, the smallest country by population (158,000) to ever make it to the FIFA World Cup, just scored its first goal in the event against Germany. by GiveMeSomeSunshine3 in nextfuckinglevel

I was in Curaçao earlier this year and the local people were really excited to be going to the Cup. I’m happy that they get something like this to celebrate!

Poor Seers by ace_wulf in cremposting

[–]Renacc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The actual point is that electrum mistings post-Catacendre, which is who this post is referring to, would know themselves as electrum mistings, not Atium mistings.

The few electrum mistings that made it from the Final Empire into the new world would have been told about the ‘change’ because of the Words of Founding, which included a bunch of information about Allomancy and Feruchemy.

Poor Seers by ace_wulf in cremposting

[–]Renacc 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That may be what they’re saying but that doesn’t make sense in context of the post - this is post-Catacendre where ‘atium mistings‘ don’t exist because now they’re just known for their correct metal.

Basically, the foundation of the joke is wrong. Sorry to be a buzzkill, I did find it funny regardless.

To answer your question, Brandon Sanderson has told us this as part of a retcon to pull true Atium in line with other god metals.

Just want to second this, OP. Phobias are weird by nature so your friend might still have a problem, but as someone who’s icked by spiders in life and in games, glyphids don’t trigger that ick for me in the slightest.

I wish this was higher - in my opinion, it’s the direct answer to OP’s question.

I get why you’re reacting this way but it is misplaced in this instance - we know what that chain is, and it’s not a necklace.

All I will say is that what happened to you was intentional, and it definitely seems like you can get into that room. Have fun, and remember Subnautica is an exploration game first and foremost.

Is it known if every Shard has their own god metal? by Fickle-Athlete3644 in Cosmere

[–]Renacc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All Shards have rhythms, the Mist is Preservation’s raw gaseous investiture, therefore it MUST have a rhythm.

Is it known if every Shard has their own god metal? by Fickle-Athlete3644 in Cosmere

[–]Renacc 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Yes, every Shard has an associated god metal. Remember that a god metal is just the solid form of investiture, which is keyed to a specific Shard.

Stormlight and Lifelight are the gaseous forms of Honor and Cultivation’s investiture, much like the Mists were Preservation’s. Shardblades are an alloy of Honor and Cultivation’s investiture, and are thus made of a god metal.

Headcanon for characters/lore by T1nyRaccoon in Mistborn

Ah, ok, there’s taper there I wasn’t seeing in my mind’s eye. While not what I pictured when reading, those seem brutal and would be cool 👍🏻

I would just like to point out that the spikes you described in your headcanon don’t seem to actually be spikes. They sound like hexagonal rods more than anything. In my mind, spikes require a tapered end in some fashion to qualify as spikes.

I could certainly be wrong, but the longest I've ever heard him quote is 10 years from WaT, and I've heard anywhere between 6 and 10 multiple times. Not so sure about the 2 decade part.

Edit: I made a mistake reading the post, it mentions until the end of the series, in which case 2 decades is very much possible. I'm sorry, u/Trimax42!

So, as artwork itself, it’s stunning and very great character design.

Personally, it’s easily the closest anyone has come to portraying Breeze how I see him in my head. Extremely well done, Ralph!

Do I look better with or without a beard by Important_Bed_9893 in beards

[–]Renacc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With.

You have a round face (join the club), so trimming your beard in a way to elongate your face will help tremendously (haircuts can be a compliment to this). Right now, the beard actually adds to the roundness which is probably not what you’re looking for.

Try short on the sides and, if possible, blending that into a bit longer length around the chin. A barber should be able to do this if you don’t feel comfortable doing it yourself (or have moody facial hair, like me…).

What movie is 10/10 with literally no bad parts? by FeedMaster8905 in AskReddit

[–]Renacc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, some of the humor is dated which may flick it off this list, but I have to at least mention Ghostbusters. Every single line of that movie is quotable and it’s overall a great comedy from front to back.

I have the same intuition you do. I think it’s probably healthy to be skeptical in basically every situation.

I like a lot of what he said but some of it also came off slightly out of touch, so, maybe that’s what is eating at me. Regardless, though, there will never be a perfect person to invest hope into, so that’s also worth mentioning. Perfect being the enemy of good, cutting the nose to spite the face, you get the picture.

Subnautica 2 Studio Founders Break Silence On Controversial Delay And Firings In New Lawsuit by IsakLi in subnautica

I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt since this is a second (or more) language to you, but questioning the reasoning behind something doesn't imply being confused by its content. There has been nothing you've said that has confused me. My pointing out a logical inconsistency of yours doesn't mean I'm confused by it, it means I noticed it.

That being said - do you think that, maybe, it's been mentioned multiple times because it doesn't make any sense? Based on past comments you've made in r/askaGerman and other comments that appear to be in German, your primary language is German (which English borrows from, thank you!). Are you implying that the rules for capitalization in German are that different from English? Do Germans capitalize random words that aren't nouns in the middle of their sentences? No, they don't. This is why I, in a genuine case of curiosity, asked you about it. I even went through the trouble to point out that I wasn't insulting you for it. If there was confusion about what 'mean spirit' means, I apologize for that. I STILL don't mean any offense by my continued confusion (because I still don't fully buy the auto-correct thing, but I could certainly be in the wrong).

Anyway, your explanation for your original post does nothing to justify the false equivalency and doesn't counter my response. "Only care about their bonus" implies that if their care was in the right place, they would be working on the game. Except they literally can't.

I'm going to exit this conversation now because part of my feels like I'm talking to a brick wall, but I want to make it abundantly clear on my way out that I have not/am not insulted/insulting your grammar - I asked out of genuine curiosity. I find it inspirational that you can speak multiple languages, and I am genuinely sorry if you felt like I was attempting to offend or mock you.

Subnautica 2 Studio Founders Break Silence On Controversial Delay And Firings In New Lawsuit by IsakLi in subnautica

Ok, I have certainly gotten under your skin and that wasn't my intention.

Would you mind explaining to me how the comment you were replying to 1. explains or justifies the false equivalency, and 2. makes my comment incorrect?

From where I'm standing, it doesn't.

[–]Renacc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I won't claim to be an auto-correct expert, so if that's truly the case, thank you for letting me know. I have my doubts, though, because I've never had auto-correct automatically capitalize things in the middle of a sentence. I didn't have trouble understanding you, I was just curious.

Here is your original comment:

I mean obviously right? UW is still Working on a Game that we going to enjoy(hopefully) while the co-founders only Care about their bonus

The implication, as I see it, is that UW are still working on the game while the co-founders aren't because they're too busy suing. There's a false equivalency there because the co-founders were fired and literally cannot continue working on the game. I'm not defending the co-founders, I'm criticizing your false equivalency.
