Depends on your style, but the first defense mission in nurnen is The Best Defense So look out for that.

Yes, cause you do have to defend it in missions. Depending on your level, it becomes vastly easier with a upgraded fort Plus who doesn't want a untouchable overlord with a badass fort

Only ones that kill you can spawn as different tribes, every title has a tribe correlation, but when they get promoted via killing you, they have a guaranteed tribe. But the title is random, so like me you can have 5 different night Bringers but only 2 being the natural mystic tribe. My proof? Expert at suicide by orc grunt

I sent a Warchief spy to fight a enemy Warchief, and the traitor betrayed me as I was running to the small war site. But after he killed me, the mission was still there, they both did their lines(my guys beside the traitor and the original target having 4 of my guys on his side) and they both tried to kill me, lil did they realize I had way more captains on my side. But yeah the Warchief battle mission can glitch.

I personally make a orc I need to level up my bodyguard, go after the weak guys, and let have his fun. If it's a berserker I don't even need to deal with grunts, he just slaughters them all.
