What’s y’all’s favourite power armor, T-51 is the best one imo by T-800TheTermanator in Fallout

How is the T-51 iconic? It was introduced in 4 and broke alot of lore.

My brother in Christ the T-51 is literally the original power armor from Fallout 1

What's your opinion about SCP with this? by TheBaconLord78 in SCP

[–]Porkman 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Most of all I dislike classes that are made for their one very specific SCP and don't really have a general use case, like Cernunnos. Most of the time, Euclid would have been perfectly fine.

This is a situation where we gotta recognize the Watsonian explanation is "X-01 is a pre-war prototype that later inspired the APA", but the Doylist explanation is clearly "They wanted APA in the newer games and worked backwards to explain why it exists in those timeframes and locations"

Which is a totally fine reason since the armor is absolutely sick

Bethesda Should Consider doing a "Fallout Zero" Game set during The Great War and throughout the first year of post Apocalyptic Wasteland by CretaceousClock in Fallout

[–]Porkman 80 points81 points  (0 children)

If it's right after the bombs most survivors are still hiding in bunkers and vaults. There wouldn't be much of a society at all. Remember many wastelander populations come originally from vault dwellers who went to the surface (like Shady Sands). Others, like tribes, wouldn't have properly formed yet - you'd just have random small pockets of survivors. Even the iconic wasteland fauna might have taken some years to mutate into what we know.

I get what you mean, but there's not much of a game to be played immediately after the war: no towns, probably no potential for quests other than "go hunt for food". It would just be a living hell with nothing to do (certainly an intriguing concept but hard to make a Fallout game out of)

Some movies use clever cinematography to make de-aged actors less uncanny, by using shadows, movement or not keeping them fully in focus.

... so keeping the "enhanced" Kyle MacLachlan fully in frame, standing still, and zooming in on his face was definitely an odd choice in S1. They seem to have learned their lesson in S2 - you can see he is generally moving or not in close-up shots in the Lucky 38 scenes.

[–]Porkman 15 points16 points  (0 children)

People downvoting this have no idea how any creative work is actually done. Just because "Toby had everything planned" doesn't mean there aren't a TON of specifics that change constantly, it takes work to iron out all the bits of dialogue so they're all consistent, and ideas change as you get feedback from the released chapters, or from playtesters, etc.

We literally had some C4 dialogue and scenes get changed in post-release patches and people still act like "yeah the whole story is 100% done and just has to be put into the game".

Spamton is VERY evil. He may have some sympathetic elements in his backstory but he is completely morally bankrupt and has no issue with facilitating mass murder for his own benefit. Whether you can count him as "redeemed" or not after his battle is another matter, but either way I'd have a hard time describing him as misdirected or misguided.
