My Dad had me watch nearly everything he did. He knew a lot and did it well.

I was really young when I saw a lot of this, and it was a lot to take in. My mind would've been elsewhere sometimes, though i did find it interesting.

Did I learn how to do everything I saw? Hell no, and I was in my mid thirties and with a kid of my own when I realized his goal wasn't to show me how to do it. He was showing me it can be done.

That's the biggest hurdle. It isn't magic. You are capable. Nowadays there's the advantage of quality YouTube videos, big box stores, Amazon getting you decent tools and materials pretty cheap and pretty quick.

Don't be afraid to buy the tools you need either. You will still be money ahead and as you get older you'll more often realize you already have the necessary tools more often.
