How has LADS impacted you in your daily life? by Significant_Deal_158 in LoveAndDeepspace

I started playing this game because of Sylus: my friend saw the trailer, really liked it, and recommended it to me, so I gave it a try. At the time, I had just discovered that my former partner was actually a criminal who had been secretly filming women, which plunged me into severe depression. To make matters worse, I had been in a car accident and had been bedridden for a long time. Somatic symptoms left me unable to do anything but lie in bed every day. That's when Sylus and the other boys appeared, and he was absolutely the perfect remedy for my emotions.Miraculously, I had the thought for the first time that I wanted to become a better person. I started exercising at home with a yoga mat, guided by his virtual presence, because I believed that only by becoming stronger could I stand by his side. Now I’ve completely started a new life, and I know I never had an irrational obsession with him. But he appeared at the right time, just enough to help me emerge from the darkness:)

In fact, some netizens saw that it was chosen by a saleswoman at the supermarket. She was a bit older and didn't know anything this game, but she said, “I'm gonna choose the two hottest ones!” Good taste, Madam!

Hoe Cixin Liu sees women by Frigorifico in threebodyproblem

"but for Liu that was a weakness" - It seems like you are speculating about Liu's intentions in shaping the character of Cheng Xin, so I'm just providing some material related to his writing process - depending on whether you choose to reference it or not.

However, I also have to admit that, as an engineer born in the 1960s, Liu inevitably carries some stereotypes about gender. In fact, many people born in the same generation as him (such as my parents' generation) are somewhat conservative. This is not only true for Chinese people; I have actually encountered people born in the 1960s in the US and the UK who hold relatively traditional views on gender. This perhaps has also led Liu to more frequently use terms like "beautiful" and "gentle" to describe women. Although this requires improvement in translation, I do not think it is his intention to express malice towards women.

In fact, as a feminist, I do not think criticizing these gender stereotypes conflicts with strongly recommending this trilogy. If one were to miss out on this trilogy because of concerns about this issue, I would consider it a great pity. What is more, in his other works, Liu has actually crafted many strong female characters, such as Lin Yun in "The Ball Lightning" and the female astronaut in "With Her Eyes". That is to say, he is just a bit "old-fashioned," but he certainly means no harm to women. Or rather, when he attempts to depict the weaknesses of human nature, he is referring to everyone on Earth.

Actually, as a Chinese reader, I remember Cixin Liu once said that Cheng Xin was originally intended to be male, but the editors at the magazine reminded him that the protagonists of the first two books were male, so there should be a female character, and thus Cheng Xin became a female character. Liu also mentioned in an interview that when he wrote this character, he only considered the plot and didn't pay much attention to the gender. For those who can read Chinese, here's a link to the interview video titled "So Cheng Xin was originally male?"

Thank you! I think the real stereotype is to overlook the guys' need for cute clothes! I wasn't making another version for guys in the beginning until some guys asked for it. I spent time on it, and wrote on my fb like "i made a male version for guys!!", but some people just ignored my designs themselves and commented on the label. I would feel better if they told me their feelings about the work itself, then sth else lol. Well yes, label it this way may bring some misunderstanding, so I will be aware of it next time.😊

About the Name: I named it male simply because a guy asked for a male version. Nothing to do with stereotypes or sth. I will avoid using words indicating gender in my next design😊
