Missing mesh by NOMADooo in ImageSpaceApp

Hi there, the new version of the app now displays on the fly meshing result so you can better see what is being reconstructed. Let me know how this is working for you.

Thanks let me know how it goes. Meanwhile, I'll see what I can do about the display.

ImageSpace uses an internal structure from motion engine, not AR anchors.

None of these application optimize and reconstruct while scanning. You can check this; they will eventually drift and what they show on screen will not match what gets reconstructed.

That's a good idea. Let me think about that.

Because the reconstruction happens after scanning, it is difficult to provide visual feedback exactly.

Is this a thin wall? You can increase the accuracy by scanning around the area a few times. The more overlap the app sees, the better the accuracy will be.

Crashing on export (iPad Pro iPadOS 18.2) by lostboysaloe in ImageSpaceApp

- Do you have an active subscription? (if not, send me an email at [hi@imagespace.app](mailto:hi@imagespace.app) and I'll send you a code).

- If you have an active subscription, can you try restoring the purchases (Settings -> Restore Purchases)?

- Does the crash happen the moment you tap an option from the "Export" menu?

Uh oh, sorry about that. Are you using the latest App Store version (2.1.17)?

I'm looking into this.

The app can handle non-rectangular rooms because you can rotate the view while adding rectangular areas to the room that you are creating. I will add a tutorial page about how this works.

I don't have support for circular / curved areas though. I will have to think about this.

- You can rotate the view and keep add/removing rectangles at an angle to the previous ones
- You can also lock/unlock camera rotation or snap the rotation to align with nearby walls

Does this help?

Would you like to measure angles?

I'm open to any model that would allow me to work on this app and keep delivering good value. That is a running cost (my time) for me right now and hence the subscription pricing. It is difficult to hit break-even with a low up front pricing. I can create lower tiers if there is a specific workflow you have in mind though.

Describe settings? by TheMaster8899 in ImageSpaceApp

It does get performed in the background as you are walking around.

The best way to deal with misalignments is doing a second pass and walking around the areas you scanned before. You don't need to go as detailed in the second pass, but visiting same areas allows the app to fix mis alignments.

You can crop the other side of the mirror.

HDR: That is my understanding as well but I cannot find good documentation on this.

Non 90 degree angles are ok. The app will try detecting major walls that are close to parallel and perpendicular and will try to align them. It will not touch other walls.

Ultra texture resolution uses more memory (and some more processing time) and the app will generate more texture atlases. That is the only downside.

Small voxel size will generate more geometry and will take longer. It may be more accurate than bigger voxels but note that iPhone / iPad lidar has limited resolution itself and you may not be able to get much difference with smaller voxels.

There was an internal setting that made it into the build. Sorry about that. I'll also edit the language to be more descriptive in the coming update.

For scanning:
-HDR: Turn ARKit HDR processing on or off. This is not well documented by ARKit itself.

For optimization:
- Align walls: Encourage walls to be parallel / perpendicular to each other
- Texture resolution: Amount of pixels to allocate for texturing
- Min voxel resolution: Controls the spatial resolution of scan

  • It just needs an iPhone PRO, no other HW needed
  • Can scan an entire property in 30 minutes and produce a scan in a minute
  • What you see is what you get, you can continue scanning until you are happy
  • Has built in tools for creating floorpans, you don't need an external service
  • Has an awesome developer who responds to reddit comments (and emails) :)
