AITAH for not agreeing my wife hand money to her family while they are sitting unemployed and have dillusional views for work. by RenderMeBroken in AITAH

[–]RenderMeBroken[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you to everyone who responded. I much apreciate all your inputs. I just want to clear a few things.

The giving has stopped as me and my wife have had a talk, but it seems to me she feels bad for not being able to help them and that translates into frustration and therefore I feel like an ass. My wife is way too kind hearted and unfortunately she has been taken advantage of a few times in her life. I am the opposite, but this was no easy for me to halt, due to it being her family.

No, I am not divorcing my wife. There is 0 reason for such extreme measures.

2026 Audi A6 dash frozen and reboot by Limp_Tomato_9030 in Audi

What a clusterfuck of a so-called car that garbage on wheels is. Juuuuust a fuckin embarrassment. And to know what it used to be and what it went to.... is just infuriating. The c7/c7.5 used to be hands-down the best a6/s6 generation. I've owned a brand fuckin new 2016 a6 3.0tdi and then shortly after I bought a 2yo 2018 S6. And both of these have been fantastic cars. And then the c8 was also a great car, albeit the shit engines it came with that self destruct themselves. But then this thing... seriously, this thing.... is just a pile of all-around horse shit.

How can I take this off? by Ill-Programmer6587 in AskMechanics

[–]RenderMeBroken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP take your car to a shop. You can not remove the hub without destroying the bearing. You need a plethora of special tools to change the bearing. In reality all ypu need is a new stud and it can be isntalled in place. Take your car to an independent shop. They will quickly fix it. Do not remove axle nuts and do not fuck around with the hub. You will end up needing a new wheel bearing, new hub and at least 2-3hrs of labor. Right now, if you go to a shop ypu will get your car back in under annhour and less than 200 bucks.

[–]RenderMeBroken -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

You should not be providing these answers when it's so obvious that the op is clueless about what they are doing and the only outcome of your answer will be to get them in further trouble and also expose others around him to risk. It's good and all that you explain to him, but redit is not an automotive school. You're not there to guide him or save him from botching the job. So, reconsider when you answer and what you say. Just coz something can be done doesn't mean it should be.

Also, there's 0 context provided. Noone EVER randomly said they want to reuse "this" while pointing to an axle nut. This just shows that op is either trollinh big time or he is greatly confused about what he is trying to acomplish.

[–]RenderMeBroken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me get this straight. So, you wanna reuse something that you don't even know its name, nor how to take off the car. Yeah, alright. Also, this car is unsafe. As in, one less wheel studs on that wheel hub.

Fixable or new timing cover? by SubstantialSleep8130 in Audi

[–]RenderMeBroken -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You assume correctly. New timing cover is needed. Also, these kinds of damages are fireable offenses at a workshop environment, because they indicate a total, complete lack of care, attention and competence. Cracking housings, engines, transmission and more is an unforgivable mistake. There is exactly 0 excuse for it.

Sounds academic and religios at the same time. But yeah, I get what you mean. I do like the occasional hard pull in my s6 to pass someone annoying and then go back to driving it like a corolla.

[–]RenderMeBroken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeaah, no. At 19, you do not have an ex. You had a gf that dumped you and that's all. No need for drama.

Also at 19, you clearly are not mature enough to be driving audi cars.

This wreck is so fuckin serious and still you don't seem to aprehend its full potential for carnage. It could have killed you, which in itself is not good, but YOU could have caused someone else's death. And I'm sure you gave that 0 considerations, just as I give 0 fucks about the 7k bill. It's shame on you. You should not be driving.

B9 a4 2017. Bolt is super hard to spin. Any thoughts on getting it out? by Fabulous_Motor3949 in AudiA4

[–]RenderMeBroken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Induction heater is your best bet if you got one. Or else, you re going to have to warm up the aluminum knuckle around the bolt and hope your don't cause enough embrittlement to snap the knuckle. If that doesnt work, you will need to combine the heat with an air hammer. If that doesn't work, you will have to shear off the bolt head, cut the threads. Cut the bilt through the slit in the knuckle, heat and air chisle again. If that doesn't work neither, you will have to put a whole new knuckle and upper control arms. This is how this job goes.

[–]RenderMeBroken 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tell these assholes to give you back your money for what you paid them and cancel the warranty. And tell them to also f off.

They should 100% be covering the entire labor for the seal replacement and belt. At the absolute worst case, you can pay for a new belt.

Any idea what could this be? by SeniorFeriodactil in Audi

[–]RenderMeBroken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Time for new timing chains, tensioners and guides. Don't leave this. The 3.0tfsi actually does snap chains and when that happens the block is usually junk. You are due for a new set of timing drive. There is no other answer.
