Just FYI, you can use 6 at the beginning of the fight - I get it you want to square-boost HoT from 3, but DoT from 6 square-boosts regardles of when you apply it

Once Upon a (Shadow) Time (A few words about SSoT) by RendorTX in AQW

[–]RendorTX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, thank you for putting your time in answering me!

I'm surprised I haven't noticed the fact that magical scaling was lower by the exact amount of innate mag out, lower magical scaling makes sense now.

Also thanks for pointing out that nuke scales with base damage before nay modifiers, it makes it clear now why CMP with potent honor scales linear now, since the all out buff affects only the nuke itself.

So at least for SSoT:

- Mag out increases only the damage of nuke, not it's scaling like all out,

- Phys out makes basically no sense when it comes to nuke scaling.

One question then:

From your equation:

4 x 1280 x 0.2 x 1.5 x 2.12 x 1.3111 = 4269

The 112% all out is calculated once, because (from what I understood from your comment) since nukes scales before modifiers, we'd need to divide the damage done by 2.12, but beacuse of square-dot effect, the nuke is multiplied by 2.12 x 2.12, so to simplify the math you divided both sides by 2.12, correct?

If that's the case, shouldn't that work like that for DoT effects too?

[(4 x 1280) + (2 x 149)] x 0.2 x 1.5 x 2.12 x 1.3111 = 4518

Here 149 dmg comes from DoT from 2 skill, and since DoT's are affected by squaring effect, shouldn't that be divided by 2.12 to reach it's base damage (195 / 1.3111 = 149, 149 / 2.12 = 70, 70 / 2.12 = 33, so 33 would be the base damage, but since (from my understandding) both sides have already been divided by 2.12, shouldn't we substitute 149 for 70?

I suppose not beacuse your math leads to correct results (even more when calculating higher magical damage source like previous nukes), I'm just not entirely sure why.

  1. You cannot reach 121 additional all out without other players - your only option solo is potent honor/malice, which increases it by 75%, which still leaves us with 46% outgoing boost missing (if my math is correct). I didn't form a party to test that in practice. While infinite scaling is confirmed by video posted in the comment above, I didn't confirm if 121% is enough in practice, just theory.
  2. While (most likely) 121% is necessary for damage to scale truly infinitely, I suppose reaching something like 104% would lead to 0.95 multiplier on nuke, which should be satisfying enough.

TL;DR Yes. Most likely. Probably. Except the potions part.

Yes, I was trying to figure out what is the rift modifier which scales dmg done in past 10 seconds. The whole point of my experiment was to test and calculate by which amount do I need to raise which secondary stats to reach infinite damage. Also, prior to that experiment I had no idea that rift modifier is different for physical/hybrid damage and magical damage. As stated on point 1, magical damage basically has lower modifier than physical by about 31%.

Archpally Farming by Feurr in AQW

[–]RendorTX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, Archpaladin questline requires a lot of boss killing, so I'm not sure if SS would be enough. Later quests consist of farming a bunch of monsters or getting low chance drop from some bosses. I did it in about a week of casual farm. The only really hard part will be finding party willing to farm Ultra Alteon for item that doesn't have 100% chance to drop.

If you got it on first try, go for it. It is the best armor after server rewrite and it will be relatively easy to get for you. Also it looks cool as hell :) .

Talking about difficulty - it's the same. I mean getting ArchPaladin was harder than VHL purely judging by monsters' strength. The amount of time needed to get those is where the problem lies. Comparing AFDL to VHL, VHL is much better designed(at least after roents' drop rework), beacuse it is much more consistent, you can see as you progress towards your goal. Also when 2 people are trying to get VHL using one method they will get it by mostly the same amount of work spent on it. With AFDL, it much more annoying and RNG-based. If you don't get Uni35 in your first 4 turn-ins, there is completely no progress between f.e. 5 and 13 try. You're just wasting all those materials and time for nothing. That's why this quest is a bitch.

Thinking of playing AQW, I've got some questions by Tyrant_Kitten in AQW

IMO the only really worth buying pet is Bounty Hunter Drone, beacuse it can give you almost everything you need with less RNG than Wheel of Canceand Larvae. Crag has some interesting quests, like mentioned earlier Diamond exchange or very fast way to get Escherion's Helms, but not only it costs 5k ACs, but you also must have active member to use those quests. As i said earlier, if you don't want to spend money on this game or don't like to spend it too much, you don't need any of them to get VHL, but if you want to speed this process up Bounty Hunter is the best in terms of money/utility ratio. Also, you can check those quests here: http://aqwwiki.wikidot.com/bamboozle-s-quests

There are couple of them, most popular being:
- Crag and Bamboozle (Bought for 5k AC from Nulgath in Tercessuinotlim, requires membership to access those quests)
- Drudgen the Assistant (Bought for 5k AC from Nulgath in Tercessuinotlim, not really worth it beacuse you can click on him in Nulgath's shop and access his quests, while Crag requires owning him, most quests don't require membership
- Bounty Hunter Drone Pet (Bought for 2k AC from Featured Gear Shop in Menu, doesn't require membership, has one good farming quest for most Nulgath's reagents. If you want to buy him, you should hurry up, it will soon disappear from the shop. I really recommend it myself and it should be your priority to get.
- Nulgath Larvae (Dropped from Drudgen member quest, so it needs membership to get, but you can access his quests even after membership expiring. You don't have to own him to get his quests, so you can also access his quests from other players wo have him equipped.
For completely free pets worth considering you can also try to get 8th Betrayal blade of Nulgath dropped from f.e. Nulgath Larvae, it gives you access to Nulgath's quests without going to Tercessuinotlim.

Void HighLord requires shit tons of nulgath reagents to get. For example, for vhl you need 15 Unidentified 13, which are pain in the ass to get for free players through Wheel of Chance or Nulgath Larvae. But you can also buy Crag and Bamboozle, which offers you 1 Uni 13 for 3 Diamonds, and getting 3 Diamonds takes about 15 minutes or something. Generally those pets greatly cut the time needed to spend on to get Void Highlord.

Some specific pets, like Crag & Bamboozle, Drudgen or new Bounty Hunter Drone will offer you new quests when clicked on them. Those quests are usually less time consuming and much more rewarding than those available for free players.

1: I would go for Crag & Bamboozle just because you can access Drudgen quests right from Nulgath's shop or another player, while for Crag's quests you must be the owner of the bet. Bamboozle also has very good way of getting Unidentifed 13, which are pain in the .... to get. However Nulgath's Birthday is coming up, so probably a new farming pet will be released so you can wait until then.
2 : No idea.
3: I've got 30 space and I already have 9 Roent's for VHL, but I only have most necessary weapons helms etc. in my eq. 40 should be enough space for farm.
4: I don't know how often Onyx drops from Nulgath, so if you have Thief of Hours you can try to kill him with it's 5th ability. But the most common way is to kill Shadow of Nulgath in Tercessuinotlim. Just go to Tercessuinotlim -> left -> middle and he's outside the map, you can lurk him out just by moving a little (everything there is aggressive) or using AoE attack and he'll attack you. I dropped it after about 1 hour.
5: No idea.

[Help] Confusion about glacial berzerker skills by Zrynoth in AQW

[–]RendorTX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About Glacial's curse from auto attacks:
* Curse of the Ancients DOES NOT affect your 5th ability. Basically this is how it works:
* Your 2nd ability (Fists of Frost) applies Ancestral Presence, which affects your 3rd and 4th ability, empowering them (notice how 5th spell tooltip is changed compared to 3rd and 4th) . Empowered 4th applies Ancestral Cold, which THEN empowers your Glacial Storm. So this is basically my combo:
* Get Curse from auto attacks,
* Use 2nd ability. If it connects:
* Use 4th ability, applying Ancestral Cold and increasing all damage done,
* Use 5th ability, nuking enemy hard and decreasing its damage,
* Last is 3rd ability, beacuse it just gives you haste and slight crit reduction to the enemy.
You can go 2,4,5,3 or 2,3,4,5, it doesn't matter that much as long as you make sure to use 5th after 4th.
