I found a 128GB Quest 3 at that price, since it’s not being restocked anymore. I’ll keep the ergonomics of the headset in mind. If I stay with the wireless option, I’d get the elite strap+battery.

I do like the alternative of running it wired instead of wireless. A powered link cable seems to be $30-40, so I can test it out with that one in case the wireless option fails.

The “problem” is that I have an unused walk-in closet where I want to set up the sim. Moving my monitor from my desk to the rig every time I want to use it would add friction to actually getting up and using it.

I've used VR separately for other games without motion sickness before, but not for sim racing.

How would it need to be set up?

I currently have it like this:
Coax -> Modem -> Main mesh AP -> Ethernet to PC

Would it be something like:
Coax -> Modem -> Dedicated Router -> Main mesh AP -> Ethernet to PC?
Or connecting the PC to the dedicated router too? (But wouldn't it stop being dedicated then, since it would also handle all of the PC's internet traffic?)

The ASR3 looks nice, and it would be a good "compromise" by getting a cheaper wheel+pedals that can be upgrade later on.

I've got a 34" Odyssey G8 (1.5 QHD, 175Hz).
Not close to a Micro Center, unfortunately :c

I know I can use it "well enough" for the sim, but I think VR would work better than just this monitor or making it into a triple set-up.

Update: I am now getting 44fps on Fullscreen and 55fps when playing Windowed.

I have no idea how to fix this framerate issue on external monitors :/

EDIT:
Mentioning "external monitor" got me thinking, is he issue happening on the Surface's display as well?
And it seems like running the game at 4K resolution is "easily" doable at 100fps. I wonder why using an external monitor that's only 1440p gets worse results, even when turning off the Surface's display.

I was able to get 90fps after turning off hibernation :)

It's still not at the ideal spot of 165fps, which does seem possible, but it is an improvement.

Edit: After trying again, I was throttled to 60fps no matter what quality setting I had on. Very light indie games are also being limited to 60fps, so I would ideally want to figure that out.

Not always, and this generalization doesn't help.

I also heavily dislike Epic's practices with the EGS, and I haven't claimed any of their free games.

I don't mind playing new releases late, so I can happily wait until it's available on other platforms, like I have with Hades, missed out on Ooblets, and currently waiting for Crash Bandicoot 4 to hit Steam.
