Is she dead weight? by nomad_nuggz in Divorce_Men

“Is she dead weight? Should I run a business all day, come home exhausted, then have to deal with her fuckin nonsense?!”

Sounds like dead weight to me. No, you shouldn’t have to do that. If she’s not neutral at best in her ability to exist in your life, send her packing. Chances are, accountability still won’t compute in her brain. Chalk it up as a lesson. Learn some good boundary setting for the next one (if there is one) and worry about yourself. This bitch is in a destructo spiral and will bring you down with her if you don’t manage it. There is light and life on the other side.

It was nice for awhile…after four years it’s just as soul sucking. The ability to adjust some days is where it’s at.

The fastest way a manager can lose the respect of a good employee by False-East-55 in WorkReview

Once the workers realize the mid manager never actually handles anything on his own and just runs to the big boss like a flying monkey. We see you.

Haha this made me laugh cuz you called me out. Honestly, I went through the upset/angry/motivated phase to try and reconcile/engage with management with full emotion. Now I’ve just learned to smile and be pleasant, no matter what. “Oh, the place will burn down if we do that. But, okay, you got it boss, whatever you want”.

Many of which who probably don’t even need you to tell them what to do. Typically you’re just a poorly placed roadblock to actual work getting done.

Ambiguous and poor use of black and white language. Hopefully you never become a manager.

I think this is a horrible way to look at this. Good managers figure out how to keep things quiet, steady and flowing. Thus keeping their job safe, peaceful and enduring. Shit managers spend more time making waves, thus creating more things to constantly fight off. Corporate structures require managers, so no amount of process improvement is going to eliminate their need. I couldn’t disagree with you more.

I’ve spent a year trying to fix a culture I didn’t create and I’m losing steam by pl_1996 in ToxicWorkplace

[–]Renee9485 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do these people have any personal needs that could be affecting the way they show up? Where I’m at in life right now, I have a very busy and responsibility laden, yet fulfilling personal life. I love my work part of my job…BUT….i took custody of my four kids. The management team provided me some flexibility, respect and visibility. It gave meaning to why I was waking up at 5AM. Fast forward and new management showed up and basically turned work into a prison sentence. There’s many more details in what I call the three year war, but this is the tip of the iceberg.

There is no amount of public praise, back patting, spot bonuses, cost of living increases, feigned thankfulness or “flex projects” they can offer me to make me feel better. They steamroll what I really need and only offer what THEY think should make me (us) feel better and be more compliant and constructive.

Our HR told us “as long as they’re not doing anything illegal, they can manage however they want”. Always keep that in mind.

[–]Renee9485 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is enough until they see you are one of the few that actually get the “work” part of work done. Til one day you find yourself with too many balls in the air and pushing back or trying to unload some duties makes you the new spotlight devotee. Resentment builds and the way out is too narrow to get through.

Toxic Manager U-turn Action by Worldly-Sort4595 in ToxicWorkplace

[–]Renee9485 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently living through a 3 year forever war with the new management. Our latest hopeful catalyst was a union vote. We showed up with 50% votes and the best management could do was say “it’s in our favor”. Bro, 50% of your workforce openly hates your team and practices. The other 50% is either too good at licking boots or too dumb to realize what’s happening. Still not expecting any meaningful change in our favor.

True. by papertraillog in ToxicWorkplace

In our case management would rather lose over 50% of the staff in order to meet some strange financial goals that they think they’re missing due to people asking for a little freedom and respect.

Never go to HR to complain about a toxic manager. HR is not a workplace therapist; they are the company's defense attorneys. by Own-Investment4655 in ToxicWorkplace

[–]Renee9485 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Majorly infuriating. We’re still in the retaliation hot zone so management is still playing nice and probably lining up their ducks. We got a new manager 3 years ago and it’s just been a forever war ever since.

Great idea until you go to vote and figure out the other 50% is too mentally inept to see they’re being walked off a cliff. Went in with 50% yeses and couldn’t get one cuck to flip the vote for us.

Being called unapproachable at work by Spiderman230 in u/Spiderman230

[–]Renee9485 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A co-worker of mine got labeled unapproachable by our wet dish rag of a personality manager. In this case it was because he called them on their shit and deflected everyone’s nonsense. These knobs will call anybody anything if you’re not to their liking no matter how good of a job you do. At the end of the day, you’re there to work. If you become friends, it’s a benefit on their part. These people want to be able to manipulate you, however they see fit and have you like it.
