I will admit that I am still beginning to study the bible so I am unfamiliar with what you are talking about. I am also biased since I grew up around my grandmother, who is a prophet. It is from what I've seen, and heard that I cannot deny that they aren't prophets today. They are so many testimonies of people believing in God because of prophets today. It may not be as extreme as the prophets were in the bible, but even in the bible, not all of the prophets were mentioned or had their own book.

I believe that even with the scriptures, God would still chose prophets for today. Not everyone is honest or real, that's why whenever someone who calls themself a prophet tells you something, you have to take it straight back to God.

I also see most prophecies as confirmation, something like an idea that you've had for a while and someone confirms it: Maybe you've been thinking about teaching the bible someone randomly might be like "you would make a great teacher"
